Cappuccino I had at the Rooms Kazbegi Hotel, while having a spectacular view of the Caucasus. My partner pointed out that the milk foam resembles a mountain, which is, of course, highly appropriate. Stepantsminda, Republic of Georgia (Sakartvelo), 2024.

Kazbegi National Park is an area of absolutely outstanding natural beauty, from the majestic Mount Kazbek to the crystal clear waters of the Juta valley. A mere three hour drive from Georgian capital, Tblisi, the town of Stepandsminda, overlooked by the awe-inspiring vistas of both the Gergeti Trinity Church and mighty Mount Kazbek, a visit in the summer months is as impressive and rejuvenating as one to enjoy the snow in winter. It also turns out to be a trail runners dream-come-true, with a wealth of technical paths, varying gradients and breathtaking views all around. I headed up to Kazbegi for a week of fresh mountain air, epic running and world-famous Georgian hospitality, as I prepared for an upcoming 100-mile ultramarathon. I was privileged to get to stay at the amazing Rusudani guesthouse, where I was fed like a king and met some truly wonderful people.
