R.I.P Sidney Poitier (20 February 1927 – 6 January 2022). Sidney paved the way for Black actors in films like The Defiant Ones, A Raisin in the Sun, Stir Crazy, Lilies of the Field, In the Heat of the Night, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and so many more. In 1964, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the first Black male to win the award. He received three Academy Award nominations, ten Golden Globes nominations, two Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, six BAFTA nominations, eight Laurel nominations, and one Screen Actors Guild Awards nomination, along with numerous other awards and honors.

The news about more unmarked graves being discovered is upsetting, but it is not surprising. The reality is that it was always known that kids were missing, that they were taken to the residential schools and never made it home. If you're feeling like you want to do something, but you don't know what, here's a short list of things that I'd recommend. - Read the TRC documents, including "Where are the Children Buried", the reports and the Calls to Action - Read "21 things you may not know about the Indian Act" - Look up the history of the land you live on, the treaties that apply to it and the people who were there first - Follow Indiginous orgs/news/individuals on social media - this is the best way to broaden your understanding of current issues, especially by following local organizations. - If you can, donate to local Indiginous projects - Participate in a KAIROS Blanket Exercise - Contact your representatives about relevant issues (such as Jordan's Principle, MMIWG, clean water etc.) - Go to a Powwow I’m just another settler, but I’ve been a Blanket Exercise facilitator for a few years, and these ideas/resources come from the Elders I’ve worked with and learned from. I think all of these things are important, but day-to-day the thing that’s had a big influence on me has been following Indigenous sources to gain a better understanding of what issues are important and why - especially close to home. That said, a Blanket Exercise is what opened my eyes to the depth and reality of how we got to this point, and so that’s something I think everyone should experience. @allthecanadianpolitics​

Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE

42 years ago today March 4th 1975 - Charlie Chaplin was finally Knighted and became Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin K.B.E.

I feel this was a long time coming, I am sure he was thrilled and something he longed  to happen for many years,  I just think it is sad it came at such a late stage in his life, he was nearing 86, he should have been Knighted so many years before this.  I often wonder if he held onto his British Citizenship for just this honor

Imagine a boy living an impoverished life in Victorian South London,  dreaming that one day he would become a Knight, as a boy he use to dream of being in Parliament.

He is with some of his family, wife Oona (who became Lady Oona Chaplin) daughters Annette, Josephine, Geraldine, Jane and his son Christopher.

SimDonia’s Next KBE Model Casting Call 

HRH Duchess Bria Wu-Winston of Umbrage is looking for the next top model to represent her brand, KBE. So, she’s putting the best models to the test in SimDonia’s Next KBE Model where aspiring models will compete to be the next face of her brand! 

Bria, her guest judges Lady Everly, Countess of Salzzell (@trentonsimblr​) and Style Reporter Trina along with a host of other guest judges throughout the season will put the models to the test with unique challenges to see if they can make it! At the end, one model will be featured as a Style Reporter on Bria’s hit show “The Style Report with Bria” along with being featured in the next campaign for her clothing line, KBE’s, next clothing collection.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Female or female identifying sims only please!

Sims of all size, shape, and color are encouraged to apply.

If selected, the model will need to be sent in 4 outfits for each challenge along with one regular outfit for judging. CC is totally fine.

Feel free to provide some backstory on them and their family!

Deadline to submit sims is 6/13.

5 sims will be selected to compete, and one sim will be used in future parts of my story as a model!
