I was reminded of this and thought I’d share.

If you were genuinely kind to someone today, then received a reaction that was not-so-kind in return, don’t worry about it.

Really!

Here’s why: many times your kindness won’t be returned from the person you extended it to; instead, that kindness is going to be revisited upon you from a different source, you watch. Another person is going to be kind to you, and it will be unexpected, and it’s going to make you smile, and that is the kindness you bestowed which was rejected coming back around.

Don’t stop being kind. It is far less taxing to express sweetness than bitterness. Kindness given to others not only does something for them, it does something for you. You’re going to be a better person for it.

(And PS: feel free to consider this post that kindness coming back to you - *I* am thanking you for being a kind person, right this very moment)
