skk nation I have made a harrowing discovery.

last year, skk was number 4 on the top 100 ships of ao3 for 2023. when they catalogued the numbers, our boys had around 24k total fics, with about 6k new fics being added that year (new fics is what determines placement on the list). we did great last year :D let’s go gang.

BUT. pause. the list came out on august 7th, 2023. BEFORE the end of s5 and the whole debacle there.

due to this, the list cut off RIGHT before the absolute surge of fics from that. you add on the 15 manga and maybe stormbringer being animated this year, and BOY HOWDY. it’s been six months since the 2023 list and we’ve already surpassed what we wrote last year (we have like 31k fics now,,)

currently predicting either 2nd or 1st for skk in 2024. there’s already like 7k new fics and unless people start putting out ai fics to climb the ranks (please don’t do this ever) I don’t see any ship that could hold us back. skk is officially taking over ao3 and I cannot wait to see it happen.

Writing isn't about "creating something new". Gods, no one can do that.

It's about melding your own experiences with tropes and other influences in your life.

Yeah, it does. And guess what, it's going to beat you in every aspect of life eventually.

Well, not you specifically. Yes, it might copy how you write, how anyone writes, but because it has so much "experiences" and "influences" it becomes blurry.

Meaning, ChatGPT will always be somewhat general while you with your everything, will always be you and only you.

Don't try to find popular tropes just so you can copy them, just take a breath and write what you want to write. It doesn't matter if someone claims ChatGPT wrote it for you, you know that it was fully yours, your experiences and your influences.

I almost forgot to inform all of you that tomorrow ( KST / 8+GMT time ) will probably be my last day online for a while?? I’ll be leaving for my internship on the 26th of this week and I won’t have stable internet connection until my internship is over ( which is on 27th something of April, 2018-- I’ll miss the blog’s fourth anniversary uwaaaaaa TT 0 TT )

I wish I was brave enough to reveal myself to you because we are mutuals, been mutual for a while now (maybe a little over a year or more)

But I lowkey want to rebrand my page. I wrote my first fics so long ago and abandoned them because I realized I wasn't really writing what I wanted. I was fitting in everyone else's headcanon, but my own so I abandoned it.

But I still get comments to this day asking if I will be working on the stories and you have inspired me to continue, this time making them my own.

I completely understand. If you want to rebrand, I say do it! At the end of the day, fandom is a place for all of us to gush over what we love, and have fun. But I understand trying to fit into what others want, I used to struggle with it as well in my early days of fanfic writing, before I realized that I wasn't enjoying it any more. I think its a right of passage for us fic writers.
