A couple unconventional projects we’ve done in his past week: sun prints and building a car. The box on the car said 8+, but the almost 8 year old needed a lot of help, and a lot of it was even difficult for me, but we got it together and the wheels spin. Anyone want to guess what each print is of? I’ll put the answers in a pinned comment tomorrow. Everybody loves the volcanoes, and we turned it into more of an interesting experiment this time. I had some pickle juice left over, we mixed up some citric acid and water, and we of course used plain old vinegar. The citric acid volcano (swipe) made big bubbles very fast. The pickle juice volcano (swipe again) was very foamy with rolling bubbles and kept going for a very long time. The regular volcano worked as you expect it to, and they all came together to make a wonderful soup in the box lid we were using as our tray, which the 7 year old then proceeded to play with for quite a while. More #playmakecreate goodness today with these ice sculptures. It started out looking like tie dye, then ended up as a galaxy. Also, just to toot my own horn, I successfully transported all that ice over the hill, with a doggy daycare drop off, without it melting at all. Getting out Meri Cherry on this week taking ideas from #playmakecreate. Today’s project: worlds. There are many but we used “LETTERS FOR LEARNERS LINED” -see last pic for more fonts. . If you’re gonna print more, you can actually bind like a pad paper. Stack and press it with heavy books up to almost its edge. The side to be glued should be on the edge of the table.
