After losing his job as an elder, Benton struggled with finding his sense of worth. He came to the realization that throughout the years he placed too much importance on work, and not enough on his family. Although he can’t get back the years he shirked his family responsibilities, and he has tried to be a better dad since Kayla’s birth, Benton finally has uninterrupted time to devote to his wife and kids. 

It is often said that you do not appreciate what you have until you lose it. In this case, Benton did not come to appreciate his family until he lost what was keeping him from them. While Benton still misses his life as a famous rock star, at the end of the day there is nothing better than being “dad.”
