Be sure to support @kennedyyanko’s solo show, HANNAH at @kavigupta_! 🙌🏾 “I spent the summer working on three really important moments in my career, one of them being my solo show HANNAH, opening next week with @kavigupta_. I haven't shared much of the work with you guys and that was a difficult thing for me to do. I love sharing my process and all the ups and downs , all the things that it takes to make this work. But it's finally time, so here we go--a little bit more about the show, and where it came from: “Because of their (my materials’) adamant presentation of personal history, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own,” Yanko says. “I was thinking about the things I was given. You’re given situations, and it’s really up to you what you do with what you have. My birth name was Hannah Elizabeth Kennedy Yanko. I was given a name, I took what worked and left what didn’t. That was the genesis of my understanding, on a deeply tangible level, that my entire existence boils down to choice, down to perception, and my ability to hone in on that understanding became the foundation in which I began to move through this world.”” #supportblackart #kennedyyanko #kaviguptagallery #soloshow #soloexhibition #artlovers #contemporaryart #chicagoart (at Kavi Gupta Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2PsALEhS17/?igshid=mpi79q1ud45q
