Sheriff Keller: you need to take your stuff and leave.
Joaquin: lol okay.
Joaquin: *picks up Kevin over his shoulder and leaves*
How the Serpent Stole his Heart (Chapter One)
Summary: Joaquin and Kevin’s relationship is a secret, as Joaquin isn’t ready to come out yet. But what happens when both of them start to slip up, and the others get suspicious? Will they be outed?
Kevin wasn’t listening to Betty talk about. . . Whatever she was talking about. He was preoccupied, humming in response to Betty’s one-sided conversation. His mind was focused on a certain Southside Serpent. She seemed annoyed, though, throwing her hands up in the air and speaking in a rather loud voice. Kevin found it almost difficult not to tune in on the conversation again. Almost. He would have talked to her about what was on his mind, but he and Joaquin had agreed to keep their relationship a secret until the latter came out of the closet. At least to the Serpents. Joaquin wouldn’t have cared if Kevin wanted to tell, say, Ethel or someone who wouldn’t say anything, but he wasn’t willing to take the risk with Betty or Veronica or anyone else in the Core Four for that matter. Joaquin was friends with Jughead. Jughead was a Serpent. If Kevin told Betty, Cheryl, Archie, etc, etc, they might tell Jughead. Then Jughead might tell the rest of the Serpents. Joaquin wasn’t ready for that yet, and Kevin respected that. Truth be told, he kind of liked having a secret romance. It was scandalous for him. Kevin held back a giddy smile as he thought of the “date” he and Joaquin had in. . . "Three hours," he concluded with a glance at his watch. He didn't even notice Jughead sit down next to Betty, playing with her hair as she rambled about whatever she had been talking about before. Kevin nodded with a hum, ignoring her the best he could. His heart squeezed when he remembered his plans for that night. He wasn't sure if he should do it yet. It being confessing his love to Joaquin. He wasn't sure Joaquin loved him, and he was afraid his beloved boyfriend would break up with him. But there was this nagging voice in the back of his head, screaming at him to spit it out already. It was driving him crazy. "Kevin!" He jumped, cringing away from the hand that was gripping his shoulder. He looked up, seeing red nails digging into his shoulder. His eyes travelled up her arm, to her face. He was surprised to see Cheryl Blossom staring down her nose at him, red lips pursed. "Huh?" He said. "You've been zoned out for the last five minutes, dude. Where've you been?" Archie complained. When did Veronica, Archie, and Jughead get here? Kevin felt heat rising up his neck. "S-sorry. Just daydreaming." He stuttered and shook his head. Cheryl seemed interested now. She sat down next to him, knocking into him and forcing him to scoot over. He rolled his eyes. "Daydreaming, you say? About whom, may I ask?" She inquired. He glared at her. "You may not," He said, and upon spying her beautiful earrings, exclaimed, "Where did you get those?" She acted as if he hadn’t even spoke. "Is it a boy? Do you have a boyfriend? Or were you just drooling over Tom Holland again?" Her eyes were round and staring into his soul, dissecting his every move. He knew he was blushing now. "No, it's not Tom Holland! That was one time!" He lied. It was many times. The red head rolled her eyes. "I'm going to get you to tell me one way or another, Kevin Keller," She vowed. And with that, she was walking off towards her minions. Kevin, being the mediocre liar he is, inwardly grimaced at the thought of convincing his friends Cheryl wasn't somewhat right. He turned to Betty, who had one perfectly plucked eyebrow raised, pink lips parted in confusion. "So, Kev, anything you'd like to tell us?" Veronica asked, folding her manicured hands on the table. Kevin could feel himself melting. The glares felt like fire on his skin. All of a sudden, a bell chimed in the air, signaling the end of lunch, and he ran like hell to his next class.
tbh i SCREAMED when kevin, stunned, accused joaquin of being a criminal like joaquin hadn’t been wearing a leather jacket with a notorious gang’s patchwork on the back the entire time they were dating
The most unrealistic thing about Riverdale is that Kevin and Juoquin aren’t the talk of the town.
Everyone watched the full scene right?Everyone saw Joaquin’s little heart broken “He really likes me” right? Joaquin genuinely cares about and likes Kevin and now they both have ties to the main storyline which means more screentime! I just hope they don’t drag the ‘con’ storyline along for too long otherwise it’ll be too late
This better be one of those stories where the person starts out as a spy but then actually falls in love with the person they’re spying on and ends up betraying the person they’re spying for or im gonna be pissed.
THE SHERIFF SERPENT IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE
