@millenniumringg While developing the plot for Ascension I've started to listen to a lot of Massive Attack ("Come Near Me" is actually a song with a very intense music video from them that has heavily inspired a certain scene) and I just heard the bizarre lyrics of "Psyche" and to me this 100% sounds like Cornered Malik reminiscing of the trauma he and Ryou went through. You can disagree with me but man, I feel sad for them now.

All right, I must admit I had my doubts at first too when I began to ship them. In part for the age gap (not so much per se because I was young and I didn't care about those things but mostly the possible fandom backlash), but also because it wasn't as popular as other ships, so I worried about the lack of content.

To my surprise it was REALLY popular back in 2012, so that inspired me a lot!

And I understand that the dynamics and the age gap my be uncomfortable for some, which is understandable and perfectly fine!💙

However I don't think your taste in fiction reflects reality (or it should), because the point of fiction is to play with ideas and entertain yourself. For me, most things are fine as long as you can distinguish fiction between reality, so you can enjoy whatever you want as long as you don't hurt anyone on real life👍

Think about this: a lot of people like horror media, but not became you enjoy it does it makes you a serial killer, because you need certain circumstances and thoughts to lead you to that. Another example would be people who enjoy documentaries and consume a lot. This does not make them biologists, scientists, historians doctors, etc, because it's a long process to become aome of those things in real life. Not something you can easily become if you watch a few movies or series.🤓☝️

Now, about book one, I think it makes the more sense for many people (including me) to ship them in that scenario, given its the only canon book where they interact. I am not saying you can't explore another books (in fact, we have wonderful writers digging aus in book 2/3 or 4 with Amon and Korra), but I think there's something special about book 1, you know?

The atmosphere there feels heavier than the rest of the books, the equalists plot, the Steampunk and the "noir" art style gives them a special flavor. It was their first and last canon interaction of the series. I think that makes it more special fir most shippers, you know?❤

And yes you are right by saying she is 17 by book 1 but even then I don't see much wrong in it (because fiction is fiction☝️), but even if it bothers you, you can play with numbers and age her up to 18!🌟

This is because at the end of the series she is 21. If she spend three years in the south pole after the events with Zaheer, then we know that at some point between book 1 and book 3-pre-poison, she turned 18 but we don't know when. 🤔

In other words, I think it has a lot to do with the fact book 1 is my favorite and the fact I don't mind the age gap that much.

If you ever give it an opportunity, I might recommend you some good Amorra fics or share fantastic art so that you may see it's potential!!! I think it's a ship with a lot of possibilities and it's fun to play with them overall.

Personally, I feel I am too vanilla for them but that's the fun in shipping! You can try different dynamics and make them funny, cute, toxic, spicy, serious, weird or whatever you feel like!
