“What’s the world coming to?” Ian mused out loud, shaking her head as her eyes scanned over the front page of the local newspaper. To say that Ian’s used to this sort of news --- a missing person’s case ending in tragedy -- wouldn’t be far off. While it’s been years since she’s lived in the States, cases like the one that had broken after the bonfire weren’t as few and far between back home. They weren’t common, everyday occurrences, but they weren’t as startling, either. Still, the fact that the close knit community of Kingsholm had been rocked with such a tragedy was unsettling, to say the least. “I can’t even think of the last time that something like this has happened here.”

Jade sucked in a deep breath and shook out her hands. She glanced down at her badge...well...Katya’s badge. It was strange having been running from the law and cops for years and years and now, she was the law. She knew a lot about being a police officer and the law in Canada and the United States, but being a cop in Norway was a whole other beast that Jade had to tackle. “Hey!” Jade walked over to the person standing outside of the store. “Detective Katya Kaminski. I’d like to ask you a few questions if you have the time.” Jade flashed her badge and ID to show them that they weren’t some fraud (even though they technically were).

She was just trying to get groceries. There was a distinct lack of instant noodles and tea leaves in her pantry, which needed restocking almost immediately or her life would fall apart and the world as she knew it would explode --- or something like that without the melodrama. But as Octavia moved towards the register, she paused at the end of a line, curiosity but also morbid shock registering on her features as she looked for the speakers in question; tucking her hair behind her ears, she spoke, almost to no one in particular. “Is that Christmas music?”

“Cute costume,” Sonya said, stopping in her tracks. She spent her time at the movie marathon, but saw no other reason to be there. The Silvers weren’t there. They were somewhere else that Sonya didn’t know about. She’d been itching for a kill for days. She looked at the person and gave them a smile, that was honestly a bit sickeningly sweet. Within a moment though, the smile faded. Sonya’s own costume was a ragged doctor’s coat and scrubs with “fake” blood splattered everywhere. “Where’d you get it?”

“The bar is closing in five minutes and the kitchen is already closed for the night,” Joaquin said to the person walking into the Wolf’s Den. As much as he didn’t care for working at nights, it was always for the best. The less sunlight, the better. Joaquin was drying glasses from the last few stragglers who wanted a drink before heading home. Even on weekends, he didn’t see too many people wandering in just before they were about to close. “Four minutes now that you’ve decided to stand there and stare at me for one minute. What can I get you? I will warn you and say that we are out of tequila tonight. Someone got a little too excited about their first drink at their birthday party.”

"Hmm. I’m not a big fan of this spicey pumpkin thing.” Stefan confessed, putting the cup down and going back to his pumpkin soup instead. “I don’t know, maybe I’m too old for new crazes. Still. I like the food bar over here better than over there with all the screaming and the jumping.” Before they could tease him, he quickly added. “I’m not afraid of scary movies. It’s actually the opposite, I don’t find any of them very scary. Kind of boring, if you ask me.”

When Sofia made the decision to move far far away from home, her mother had only stopped protesting when she promised to send her a handwritten note every month. She swore up and down that she could then see how Sofia was actually doing. Based on her handwriting. The only problem was: she didn’t quite know where the Kingsholm postal office was. 

So she gathered up all her courage to approach the first person she saw to ask for directions. "Sorry to bother you, but I was just wondering if you knew where the postal office was,” she asked with a polite smile.

Adam: Party at mine this Saturday, you coming? It's gonna be a rager at the docks, a couple of my neighbors are in on it too. BYO winter woolies though, they say it's going to be fucking cold.
