Summary: You are a *cough* regular *cough* high school student. But one day something happens which changes everything... And now you have a trail of simps behind you.
Some bg info (You can ignore this if u want to): Kiss him not me (私がモテてどうすんだ) is a shojo manga series. It also has a anime which I recommend watching. It's on youtube!
Characters: Childe as Nanashima, Ayato as Igrashi, Zhongli as Mutsumi, Xiao as Shinomiya, Lumine as Amane, and finally, you as Serinuma!
You live your life like any other normal high school girl.
IF being an otaku was considered being normal, which it is far from. Especially your obsession with BL fics and how the boys would hold hands and kiss and… Ah, no if you think about it too much, you swear you’d start drooling.
Now, behavior like this is considered weird (shockingly) to other people so it’s why you're a closet otaku. Hiding your obsession from your brother was a failure though. Since the first day you started reading online books to the time where you started buying actual manga, he’s been on top of it. It was almost impressive how quickly he would find your stash. But it was mostly annoying when he would lecture you about how… irregular it is for someone like you to be reading such things. Not that you minded his harsh words.
The only person who you could share your unholy manga with was Lumine, your bestie. You both always spend time drooling over fics and simp for Thoma, a protagonist in your favorite anime, which surprisingly wasn’t BL for once. But it wasn’t long until your unhealthy desires leaked onto your school life.
You couldn’t help but ship every boy that met eyes with each other.
Like how Childe and Ayato, the most popular boys in your class, have friendly conversations. It may not have seemed like much to you back then, but the moment your eyes fell on Childe casually hanging an arm over Ayato and seeing them so close… that was when the ship was born. The sight of them being together alone had you and Lumine shaking.
There was also another factor that separated you from the other kids at school. It was that you were a bit on the chubbier side- not that you or Lumine minded. In fact almost nobody seemed to mind. Almost.
It was Childe who always teased you or made unnecessary comments about your weight. It never really bothered you though. Not when Ayato sweeps in and orders Childe to apologize, holding his hand to lecture him somewhere else after. It was just like in the manga! Even better when it’s playing right in front of your eyes.
“Lumine! Look over there! Ayachi is holding hands!”
Lumine rolls her eyes. “We both know that it’s Chito.” hehe cheeto She says matter of factly.
“But Ayato is definitely the top. Look how he’s always looking over Childe.” you protest.
“C’mon, we both know the boy who is taller is top. It happens in almost every BL manga.”
“Almost.” you retort.
“Greetings Y/n and Lumine.”
You look behind, and you see Zhongli. And a shy boy behind him.
“Hi.” you say while Lumine waves.
“This is Xiao.” Zhongli introduces the younger boy. He peeks a look up at you. Then quickly looks at Lumine.
“He is a second year student who joined the health committee last week. He may be shy now, but once you get to know him, he talks a lot.”
“I do not.” Xiao scoffs.
Your eyes widen, a new ship blooming right in front of you.
“Well we should get going.” Zhongli said as he left, with Xiao trailing closely behind him.
You look at Lumine and she looks at you, with the same expression on your face written on hers.
“Zhongxiao.” she whispered.
And for once you didn’t have any objections.
The rest of the day zoomed past in a blur. And the next thing you know, you’re excitedly in your room, in front of the T.V, waiting for the new episode of your favorite anime.
‘IT’S ALMOST HERE!’ you text Lumine as the intro song plays. ‘YES!!!!’ she replied. The anime starts abruptly at the place where it had last left off.
Thoma was helping Taromaru fight off the shogun. But the most unexpected thing was that Thoma didn’t dodge the last attack. You squeeze your phone in anticipation so tightly that the screen cracked, as you waited for Thoma to get up. But he didn’t.
Thoma had lost the fight.
How many days has it been since the loss of your beloved Thoma? 3, 4 days?
You had locked yourself in your bedroom sleeping, and slowly starving yourself.
As days went by you lost the energy to count. Your mother, who was concerned for your health, finally sent your brother to check on you.
He knocks down the door and roughly drags you out of bed.
“Get up already. You’ve been sulking in your room for too long.” He yells at you as you desperately try to crawl back into the comfy sheets of your bed.
“Nooo I’m still mourning for Thomaaa.” you cry out.
“Y/n I swear, you’re gonna get out of this bed right now or else…” Suddenly, he stops his attack and stares at you in disbelief.
Forcefully woken up from your peaceful slumber, you get up, with a string of complaints pouring out of your mouth.
You see your mother near the door frame and said, “Morning…”
“…” She doesn’t answer.
You head to the bathroom to wash your face when you see a poster of a pretty girl taped onto the mirror. You squint at it closely. Your brother probably put up the poster for some weird reason. You stare in shock as the poster moved. You touch your face in terror. What had happened to you?
Your chubby round face from before was gone and your usually messy hair was straight for once.
“MOM, BROTHER! W-WHAT’S- IS THIS A DREAM??!!” you scream in disbelief.
“Y/n, it’s really you!” your mother said, not sure on whether to be relieved or more terrified.
After a long time of thinking, the only conclusion you could come up with was that you had lost weight, and suddenly became a supermodel.
You didn’t hate the fact that you were now skinny… but it was sure a hassle.
Your clothes were so baggy, threatening to slip off from every movement you made.
Nevertheless, you still managed to get to school on time.
As you get to your classroom, you can feel the stares of your classmates.
“Bestie?” Lumine asks hesitantly behind you.
You turn to look at her. “Lumine, did you see what happened to…?”
Tears well up on your eyes. Lumines face gets clouded by grief.
“May he live a great afterlife… Wait a second. Did you lose weight?”
“Yeah.” you say, feeling slightly self-conscious.
A series of emotions flashed across her face. Sadness, happiness, and now… anger?
“Why didn’t you text me or anything? I was worried sick!”
“Sorry, I accidentally broke the screen of my phone. It’s useless now.” you sigh.
She smiles in relief. “Well, I’m glad your back Y/n!” she says, causing a wave of shock among the other students.
This pretty new girl was… Y/n?
Childe was one of the first to recover from the shock. And being the snooty brat he always is, he takes a shot to insult you.
“Guys, no matter how hard she tries, she’ll always be a…”
You weren’t able to hold back your tears anymore.
It wasn’t because Childe was being rude. It was just that Childe looked so much like Thoma. And to think that Thoma would say such things… well it broke your already unstable heart.
Without saying a word, you run out of the classroom.
Tears slowly spill down your cheeks as you run aimlessly. Were you overreacting a bit? Maybe. But the recent loss of Thoma made you hysterical.
“Ack-”
You collide with somebody and you both fall to the floor.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going…”
“Sorry!” you squeak out.
It was the new kid from the day before. Xiao.
“It’s alright.” he grumbles, while looking a bit flustered.
He points towards your knee. It was bleeding a bit. It must have happened when you fell.
“You’re hurt.” he states the obvious.
He stands up and brushes himself off. Then he offers you a hand.
“Let’s go to the nurses office.”
You both walk in silence.
But to your surprise, it was Xiao that tried bringing up a conversation.
“So, may I ask why you were running?”
“Oh uhh. I was late for class.” you hesitantly lie.
There was no way you were going to tell him your otaku-ish behavior. Xiao gives you a look, noticing your hesitation.
To your relief, the infirmary was just ahead.
You enter as quietly as you could when you notice a sick student on the bed from across.
In the corner of the room, you see Zhongli sitting there. He was dabbing at his arms with a cotton ball.
Zhongli immediately noticed the two of you, despite your efforts to be quiet, and Xiao’s almost silent steps. He then sees your injury.
“Ah, come over here. I have the first aid kit out.”
You head over to Zhongli.
He stops treating his scratches, and turns his attention towards you.
You sit on a stool next to him as he gets some supplies out.
“This might sting a little.” he warns as he disinfects the wound on your knee.
It did hurt a bit, but you saw that Zhongli was trying hard to be gentle, so you tried your best not to flinch.
When Zhongli was putting the bandage on, you see Xiao in the other corner of the room. Your eyes met his and he quickly looked away.
“All done, Y/n.” Zhongli said.
You hear an odd gasping sound where Xiao was. There stood Xiao, completely dumbfounded as he tried to process the information that he heard.
“You’re Y/n?” he asks in shock. You nod a yes.
After a while, Xiao regains his composure and excuses himself out of the infirmary.
“Thank you for your help Zhongli. But how did you know that I was… me? I could hardly recognize myself, and neither could everybody else.”
Zhongli chuckles. “You may look a little different, but you're still the kind Y/n I know.”
You swear your heart did a back flip, if that was even possible.
“So…” you focus your attention onto Zhongli’s arms. “How did you get those scratches?” you inquire.
“Ah, there was a kid calling for help, and when I went to check it out, it turned out that their cat got stuck onto a tree. I got it down but…” he raises his arms to inspect them.
Just then, the bell for the first period rang.
“Oh I have to get to class!” you say.
“I aswell.” Zhongli finishes up cleaning his scratches.
“Thank you for treating my knee! I really appreciate it.”
“No problem. Please come back and visit sometime. Oh- that sounded wrong. Come back to visit, without any injuries.” Zhongli corrects himself.
You hurry back to class.
Classes were like any other day. Math, Biology, Physics, History… and P.E.
Physical exercise was your least favorite of all classes. But surprisingly, during volleyball, you were able to move faster and easier. You had always had fast reflexes, and to combine them with your newfound speed… well you were invincible.
As the school day came to an end you go to your assigned shoe box.
When you get home you have to… oh right. Assemble Thoma’s shrine. Oh! And you have to check when the next manga convention is!
“Excuse me,” a voice interrupts your thoughts.
You look over to see Ayato, as stunning as ever.
“Y/n, would you like to go to the boba cafe on the weekend?”
“Huh?” you ask.
Why was he asking you so suddenly?
“Ayato! I was going to-”
“Childe?” Ayato asked, clearly surprised at the sudden presence of the ginger.
“Y/n senpai, may we talk…? In private.” Xiao comes out of nowhere, scaring the heck out of you.
“Y/n, I wanted to talk to you about the book I borrowed from you.”
Zhongli?? Why was everyone suddenly calling for you?
“Hey! You can’t ask her out. I was going to ask first.” Childe states.
“Well, I guess you’re too late.” Ayato smirks.
“I was also thinking…” Xiao mumbles.
“What?! Is everybody here trying to take Y/n out?” Childe says.
“Well, it’s Y/n choice to choose who she wants.” Ayato declares.
What in the actual-
“Why don’t we all just go together?” Now it was Zhongli’s turn to speak.
“No one gets turned down, and we can all have fun. If that’s ok with you?”
How could you say no when this was a perfect way to see your two favorite ships bond?
“Of course!” you say a bit too eagerly.
Luckily, no one seemed to notice.
“Ok, then that settles it.” Zhongli says happily.
“Hmph.” Xiao crosses his arms, but hey, he wasn’t complaining.
You couldn’t say the same for Childe.
“But I-” his whines were quickly cut off when Ayato dragged him off somewhere.
And that was how you gained 4? No 3 and a half simps. (Hehehe, don’t mind me, just bullying Xiao>:D)
