I really love the arc of the Tomes and Tea series and the little brilliance in it.
Book 1: "Can we have the quiet life we want? Can we really run away from it all and have a real home for the two of us? Even though dragons want to burn it all down and a mad queen is threatening us?"
Book 2: "Well first we have to go fulfill Kianthe's promise to dragonkind, and then our home won't be scorched to ash. We can do that and have time to drink wine on the Nacean."
Book 3: "Okay, maybe we can overthrow the queen after all, and have a public wedding about it. Now finally we can have our tea shop in peace and quiet, a happy ending!"
Book 4: "Can we have the quiet life we want? Can we really run away from it all and have a real home for the two of us?"
I like a 4-beat progression that returns to the first note in a different flavour. Life is cyclical and the problems we deal with will happen continuously in different forms over the course of it. In this case I especially love it for a book about a relationship, tackling life's recurring problems to be together at day's end. It's really sweet to see that they've done it once already, and now in book 4 we now have to do it again knowing what they've already conquered to be here.
Kianthe and Reyna my beloveds.
