Moon knight (show) starters- ❝ You’re looking pretty rough. ❞
@kiantrev Mathew & Peder
Rough nights turn into tough days. Its not always honor and coming out of the fray victorious and unscathed. Sometimes the hound but manages and comes out of his victory with a limp and tail tucked. It’s what keeps him humble. Its what paces him. In these instances, he’s forced to take a step back for a time. Take a break and recover. His body simply wont allow him to take, or make, another swing. Even if it wont be the end of him.
However, Peder wont keep still despite it all. He’s drawn himself out of his townhome and into the daylight to let his haggard self air out. Its rare for him to be seen by day near his permanent residence causally milling about. He has always had such purpose and places to be. It makes his neighbors wonder what it is the aloof man does for a living, but not enough to approach him. Especially when on the rare occasion he is out and about like this he appears to have been put through the ringer. He accepts that he shouldn’t be out and about like he is, especially on foot, but the library called to him. Its quiet, everyone has their noses in a book or computer screen, and its a large and neutral enough space that he can avoid other patrons. He keeps the visit short and to only a few isles as to not overdo it for himself. He still has to walk home after all. With this same thought, he keeps his pick to two books. Checks them out with no comment from a new young woman at the counter, and is about to make his leave when he hears a recognizable voice.
The hound recognizes this lads face. His attempt to avoid familiarity in a time like this has failed. It’s the usual librarian whom Peders shared only formal greetings and short comments with in the past. This comment came along the lines of mutual familiarity though. He shouldn’t brush it off with a cold shoulder. “I have had better weeks,” He barely turns to glance at the fellow, his next words laced with dry sarcasm. “Thanks for noticing...” a few beats pass and he acknowledges hes being insolent for very little reason towards this lad and lets a, “sorry,” breaths past his lips. Hes tired and sore but that doesnt mean he needs to take it out on strangers- let alone familiar faces.
This could’ve been a chance for a ‘you should see the other guy’ punchline, but Peder wasn’t the type to joke about these things. Witty jest also wasn’t his cup of tea, and especially not now when caught on his way out bruised and battered with a lame gate.
