The Kickshaw Compilation
Kickshaw (archaic noun): small (often useless) object displayed for its attractiveness or interest.
I’ve been going to estate sales every other month or so. I haven’t found any amazing treasures by most people’s standards, but I sometimes buy a small weird thing that strikes my fancy. I recently learned the word “kickshaw” and thought it was a good descriptor for this collection.
Tonight’s example: I bought this picture (I seem to have developed an interest in old photography) around Halloween to put out as a spooky decoration. The back says it’s 5-year-old John in 1955.
