Purple, Green, and Yellow
An ordinary day at preschool turns extraordinary when a new student arrives.
Written for @sanders-sides-uncorrect-quotes for @tss-camp-and-coffee's Camp Cartoon writing event. WC: 1247 - Rated: G - CW: Fluff. Oh so much kid!Sides fluff. This tiny story isn't long enough and they're not old enough for the angst behind it all. My other Camp stories.
Just like every day, Virgil was the first to arrive at school. He said goodbye to his dad, said hello to Miss Julie, and took his favorite seat at the art table. Today he picked out a big white sheet of paper and crayons from the box in red, blue, and orange. He wanted to draw a picture of the flowers growing across the street at Dr. and Mr. Picani’s house. There weren’t really any purple flowers growing there, but purple was his favorite color, so even though it was almost cheating, he picked a purple crayon, too, and drew big purple petals for some of the flowers.
He didn’t notice the other kids arriving until a familiar voice laughed next to his ear. “Hey, there’s no green!”

Something was amiss in his headquarters.
Even without his powers, Logan could feel it. The problem was, he couldn't find it. He had checked the normal places heroes liked to squeeze in through, the air ducts, the trash chute, even the stairwell with its emergency access to the roof. He would be surprised if they finally used the front entrance. This was a standard building in the middle of downtown, yet none of the heroes thus far had had the gall to just walk through the front door. Maybe he should check the security cameras just in case... no, if a hero had walked through the front door Logan's security guard would have told him. Which meant the heroes, or hero had found a different entrance. They were getting smarter.
Something Worth Stealing: Five
“What do you think?”
Truthfully Virgil was terrified at the very prospect. There was a reason each nanny didn’t last long, and Virgil had heard enough horror stories about the Ackroyd boys to avoid them at all costs when he had worked in the past. Hell the only reason he still got some to come in now and then was because the job was so high paying. Mr. Ackroyd knew exactly what he was doing advertising with all those zeroes, he was reeling in any nanny who would skip talking to peers at the sight. And now by some twist of fate that very bait was dangling above Virgil, and even worse there wasn’t anyway he could feasibly afford to ignore it. A sigh escaped his lips as he looked the man in the eye, “I think it is more than a generous offer that I would be happy to accept.”
(Virgil becomes the newest nanny for his very attracti- for Logan.)

Virgil is a space ecologist who finds an abandoned egg on a planet ravaged by over-mining. The egg is of a snake-like species that can incorporate the DNA of other organisms into their own genome.
The egg hatches, the baby snake-alien bites Virgil and suddenly Virgil has a half-human half-snake-alien son (Janus, obvi)
(The snake-alien species isn’t really sentient by themselves, but it’s not uncommon for them to become sentient by incorporating the DNA of a sentient species. They can only make major changes like that in their fledgling stage, but later in his life Janus could make smaller changes like developing venom, or bioluminescence)
Logan is a small helper-robot (I’m thinking that little Brainiac from Superman’s fantasy in JLU). Patton is a puffball-puppy-alien that Virgil keeps as a pet. Roman and Remus are small dragon-rat-aliens that are technically pests that are infesting his ship, but since they don’t actually mess with the systems or anything, Virgil likes keeping them around.

Summary: Janus uses age regression as a way to destress but has little control over it whenever he grows upset. Trying to keep a secret like that can be hard when you’re only four years old, and thus family bonding ensues in a way nobody expected, least of all Deceit.

Chapter 6 - A Storm of Purple and Blue
Dee snapped up as his room was illuminated with a bright flash followed just seconds later by a band so loud and close it seemed to shake the walls and rattle his small frame. Rain pelted heavy and hard against the windows and the wind whistled straight through the walls making him whimper and pull the blankets up over his head. He hated waking up little and doing so during a thunderstorm seemed cruel. Or was he little because of the storm?
Another loud crack of thunder scattered what little bit of coherent thoughts he could force himself to string together. He curled up as tight as he could and grabbed his nearest stuffed an animal, a rather ratty purple bear Virgil had let him have when they were actually children, squeezing it as hard as he could and willing every scrap of comfort he could get from the action to soothe him enough that he could try to sleep through the storm. He saw the bright flash of light even with his eyes closed tight and cover over his head and he tensed, bracing himself for another roar of thunder.
And I’ll Strike ‘Cause I’m a Monster
Day 3 and this time the two are kids with superpowers. Hope you enjoy 💛💚

Summary: Janus' scales were a sign of his powers but they cause him to get bullied constantly. Some older kids are beating him up when finally someone stands up for him.
Janus hadn’t asked to be born with scales on his face. It was a sign that he had powers, which is said to be a gift but in actuality it caused him nothing but pain. He didn’t mind his powers, even if he couldn’t control them yet, he was only eight after all, but he didn’t understand why they had to come with the scales. They didn’t serve a purpose other than announcing to everyone that he was different and being different was not something you want to be.
He'd been bullied his entire school life so far. The other kids say he’s scary, that he’ll curse them if they look into his eyes or that he is an omen for bad luck. He didn’t have friends, the few kids that were willing to speak to him were pressured into stopping lest they’d be bullied as well.
Janus had learned to live with it, he could ignore their words most of the time and his mother always reassured him that he was a good kid and that one day he would do great things with his powers and then all the others would love to be his friends. But one day wasn’t now, so Janus waited alone until then.
No, the words weren’t the problem. The fights on the other hand were.
