A villain steals the heroes sidekicks because they care more about the kids than the heroes do?
The villain paused in front of the kid, only just turned twelve and fresh into senior school. Too young to be in this business, let alone fighting someone like them. “Do you know who I am?” they asked softly. The kid nodded, bottom lip sucked between their teeth.“Do you know what I do?”“You…you kidnap sidekicks.”“I do. Do you know why?”“N-no.”“Alright, I’ll stay over here and explain it to you. How’s that sound?”
“They are seven years old!” roared the villain. “Seven! How could you bring them into this business?!”“Their powers are off the scale-”“Oh, so you’re openly using them for their gift?” The villain laughed, raw and ugly. “That makes it so much better,”The hero’s eyes narrowed. “I’m teaching them to use their gift for good-”“You want to turn them into a tool for your own personal use, a weapon to point at someone and say ‘go destroy’. Well, not well I’m around. I’ll die before I let you do that.”
The villain sat down next to the hero’s ‘kidnapped’ sidekick, their cape pooling around their knees. “Thought you might need some time to yourself to catch up on all that homework. Can’t be easy trying to graduate when you spend every night training or fighting crime, and half your lesson time too.”“Thank you. I appreciate this more than you know.”“No problem, kid. I remember how hard it is to be young and in this business. Now, do you need any help with your maths homework? Your school report said your marks have been slipping…”
