Okay so imo these scenes were super impactful in the most recent chapters. We finally get to see Sowoon feeling regret during his internal battle and he acknowledges that he’s also thinking of Hak’s well-being. Also I think he’s finally starting to see that he has caused Yona a lot of pain and that has transformed her into the Yona that’s standing in front of him. Sowoon for me has always been a difficult character to grasp although he is super interesting. His reaction to Yona saying she’s gonna leave after to look for Hak for me looks surprised but also sad. He seems to also want to go but understands that he’s the person that put himself in the situation where he can’t. And although he has Yona’s support at the moment for war it’s just a painful reminder that it’s not the same as before when they were kids.

I’ve read AkaYona manga in a few days, read posts here and decided to write my thoughts.

It seems to me that the whole point of the manga is to show us the power and unity of Hak, Yona and SooWon. SooWon is the king, Yona is the princess and Hak becomes more popular and reliable for almost every tribe. Almost all of the troubles solved by both YonaHak’s squad and the king. Yona’s kindness and Hak’s leadership skills are being appreciated and it surely affects the whole kingdom.

But right now the main focus is and will be on Hak and SooWon. Their relationship is one of the main tropes in manga and their resolve will be crucial for the plot. The manga is not about Yona anymore (and it started long time ago).

Also, I’ve seen many posts about Hak being only the “love interest of the main lead and the character without development”??? Hello, author did not release not one but some chapters with Hak being center character in it for you to think that bad about him. He IS the main character with his own traumas, feelings and developments and he is the one of those who will take huge part in the kingdom’s future.

i don’t get ppl woobifying suwon and saying “he deserves to be happy” bc like. he brought every regret upon himself. doesn’t that make him a MORE interesting character? maybe he DOESNT deserve to be happy but what if that happens anyway??

like idk. i just wanna see where his struggles go. with his hyper compartmentalized mindset and thinking he always had yona pegged as incompetent and then her turning that notion on its head thus shaking the foundation of his justifications. like oh shit if you didn’t think you needed to murder her dad from the beginning maybe you could’ve actually cultivated your best friends as not only allies but the ppl who would become instrumental in changing the country. maybe you didn’t need to alienate and thus lose them forever at all!! you DIDNT need to traumatize the two ppl who believed in, loved, and looked up to you the most!

… and yet he did anyway and now he has to LIVE with that and that is SO interesting. where will you go from here, suwon…?
