It occurs to me now that my jokes about Kinkaku and Ginkaku teaming up with Kakuzu could lead to the funny possibility that he got himself involved in that coup attempt that may or may not have involved the assassination of two kages, including Tobirama. A coup attempt that Kinkaku and Ginkaku canonically undertook, and were infamous for. Manga panels below to illustrate my point:
TBH would be funny if Kakuzu was actually involved. First kage assassination attempt failed, but second time was the charm thanks to the power of friendship and the five treasured tools of the sage of six paths. Tobirama being the guy that got his ass beat in the process of said coup attempt is just the cherry on top. We can get silly with this.
My crack HC about Tobirama's death is that in his last moments, he did face Kinkaku and Ginkaku bros in combat, but rather than going for the kill, they tried to seal him away with Sage of Six Paths' tools using "I invented that jutsu!" as the taboo phrase. Tobirama fought bravely and managed to repel them, but the mental strain resulting from holding himself from shouting the taboo phrase ended up causing a brain hemorrhage that killed him shortly after.
And so the carnage has begun
No hiding place for anyone...
fucking unhinged actually of ginkaku and kinkaku to just start fucking Eating the nine tails from the inside after he swallowed them. asfsfsgfds. like they were like 'oohhh youre eating and swallowing us?? what if we just started eating YOU huh'. and it worked and they got vom'd up again lmao. and gained some powers as well like. way to make a deadly catastrophe into an advantage for uselves
