I wish the show had talked about Big after his death, even if they just mentioned him. He isn't a 'main' character except in my heart but his sacrifice is meant to be significant from the way it's presented. It's a huge change from the beginning of the series where Big looks like he wishes he could be allowed to shoot Porsche, just once 😂 and now he recognizes and acknowledges how important Porsche is to Kinn, and goes out of his way to save his life, even at the expense of his own. But besides Kinn's "Big?" and "If I was a better boss, this wouldn't have happened" - after Big is shot, he's just gone. I feel like Porsche would have intense feelings about Big putting himself in the way of bullets meant for him, considering his response when Kinn did the same (and lived!) so I was surprised he didn't ever mention it again, even in passing. In that respect, it felt unresolved. Lots to think about vis à vis the dehumanization of the bodyguards and the trail of bodies that allow for 'happy' endings.

As Big lies across Porsche’s torso, he realizes he never thought twice.

He has never liked Porsche, and he has valid reasons for that. Porsche arrived at the compound with a strange combination of vocal complaints over the rules and a smug, boyish grin that grated on Big’s nerves more often than not. He always had a sassy remark in response to most blunt critiques and a tendency to talk and do things without a single thought running through his mind. What has aggravated Big the most is that Porsche often looks good while doing it. He can be the most annoying person in the room and at least one person will find him endearing.

Kinn, mainly. It didn't start out that way, at least not outwardly. Kinn’s groans of exasperation turned into fond smirks. The fond smirks turned into small smiles. The small smiles turned into sneaking away with Porsche and coming back together with shit-eating grins on their faces.

Of course Big was going to take the bullet for Porsche. Kinn never even smiled that way when it came to Tawan. He certainly never smiled that way when it came to Big.

And Kinn never will smile that way when it comes to him, going by the rate Big is bleeding out. As Tawan shoots him a second time, the far-off possibility is cemented as an impossible fantasy.

It was probably always an impossible fantasy, but especially after Porsche entered the compound. Kinn will never smile like that over anyone else as long as Porsche is alive, and that's all because Kinn loves Porsche.

As for Porsche, he gets to stay alive and not bleed out in the same way Big is right now.

And that's all because Big loves Kinn.
