Kisna: The Warrior Poet (2005) - Katherine

Antonia played the role of Katherine in the 2005 film Kisna: The Warrior Poet. This Bollywood film is set in British-ruled India, with most of the film taking place shortly after the Indian Independence Act of 1947.

Katherine is the daughter of a cruel British Deputy Commissioner stationed in the village of Devprayag. When a group of Indian nationalists attack her home and murder her father, her Indian childhood friend Kisna rescues her. Kisna helps Katherine escape her pursuers and reach the safety of the British High Commission in New Delhi, but along the way the two fall in love - a complication as Kisna is already engaged.

Kisna has a very large and passionate fan base even 20 years after its release. Most would consider this to be Antonia's breakout role, and she gets a ton of face time as one of the co leads of the film. Chronologically this post should have come way earlier, but it's one of her only roles where I'm spoiled for choice on scenes to make gifs of - going through all 90 minutes of her on screen time, then cutting down to a reasonable number to include in a post was a very lengthy process!

Antonia really does just about everything in this movie - speaks Hindi, rides horses, sings, dances, leaps onto moving carts, wields an axe... but perhaps my favorite is a scene in which she perfectly depicts the trope of "overenthusiastic white girl at a cultural celebration" 😂

Kisna: The Warrior poet is available for digital rental or purchase with English subtitles on Amazon Video. It's also available on DVD, although I can personally attest that the picture quality on the edition distributed by EROS International is absolute garbage and you're better off getting it digitally. Given that she's in nearly every scene making a clip video doesn't make a lot of sense, but you can find plenty of footage of her in it on YouTube.
