Take every advantage of window space when laying out work areas. Even though much kitchen work is "heads down" activity, proper lighting and the opportunity for occasional glances up and out can turn kitchen chores into tasks that nourish the creative spirit. Here is a work counter ideally set up for preparing homemade breads. A marble top is best for rolling, kneading, and shaping dough. The gift of natural light cannot be beat, and these windows allow generous amounts to enter. Still, they provide privacy from neighbors - who might be inclined to drop by just a little too often when they see fresh bread cooling by the window.
Author's note: I love an obnoxious caption. For some reason hear Kelly Mantle reciting this in my mind.
