Is it easy for Jane to tell someone "no" when they don't want to do something?
Mostly no, although it depends who’s asking and how much she doesn’t want to do it. She’s pretty easygoing, so if a friend’s asking her for something she doesn’t mind too much (like going for dress-up dinner with Veronica at the Ultra-Luxe, where she feels very out of place), she thinks that making the friend happy is worth doing something she’s not really into. When it comes to things she really doesn’t want to do, though, then she’s good at putting her foot down and setting boundaries.
What she finds most difficult is when a friend’s asking something of her that she really doesn’t want to do, but also doesn’t want to or finds difficult to explain why. After Dead Money, the Lucky 38′s whole ‘abandoned casino’ thing reminds her too much of the Sierra Madre, to the point that she is constantly on edge and on the brink of a panic attack. So she moves out and sets up in the abandoned Wolfhorn Ranch, but she has trouble opening up with her companions why, and so they are mostly confused and annoyed that she wants to abandon a perfect home base in the big city for a shack in the middle of nowhere, and it’s a pretty unpleasant time for a while (then she buggers off to Zion and feels at least marginally better discussing things when she gets back but yeah).
Thanks for the question and sorry for the tangent haha <3
