Trying to come out: a little hilariousness in the pile of poop that is coming out of the closet...
So my little sister is 7 years old.
Background: I've come out as lesbian to my parents and my grandma on my Dad's side.
I decided that since she was only 7 and doesn't care, I wasn't going to do an official sit down and tell her I'm gay; I'd just be Super Gay™ and she'll figure it out.
And she WILL NOT catch on no matter what I do...
Like...I played my gay Spotify playlist, and at the time, had a Girls Like Girls lyric as my wallpaper, and she starts talking about "if your phone was a person, I think it would be gay." I don't think she heard me respond "if it was a person, would that mean I would finally have a girlfriend?"
Like...I literally drew the lesbian symbol ⚢ on my wrist for pride month. She asked what it was, and I said it was for gay pride, and she still hasn't caught on that I'm more than an ally.
Like...I sat and read (and explained) funny gay Tumblr posts...nothing.
I know she doesn't know. She was literally talking about the time she made her girl Barbies get married, and how she didn't even know that gay marriage existed! And here I am, being my gay little self and laughing at just how oblivious she is (partly due to heteronormativity, I'm sure, but also because she is 7 and hasn't grasped how to catch on and put pieces together in general).
I am not even trying to hide my sexuality around her. She is literally just completely oblivious! Jeez! Lol
