Journal Entry 1 

Translation:

15 August, 1747

Mother bought me this journal today. She said that I’m going to be going away for a while to some sort of hospital in England. I suppose the doctors here couldn’t fix me.

She said this journal was for writing my thoughts in while I’m away. Something she and my doctors think is very important to helping me.

So this is my first entry.

To be truthful, I’m terrified.

I’ve never been to England before. And I’ll be on my own. My parents can’t come with me.

Papa assured me that they have the best doctors in the world at that hospital, yet despite that I still have this scary feeling in my stomach. Hopefully it’s just my mind making me feel ill like always.

Anyways, I guess I’ll update when I’m on the train tomorrow. I have to finish packing. I think I’ll take my rabbit stuffy with me this time. It’s silly to say but this is my first and only toy I’ve ever gotten, so I think I’m going to try and name them soon.
