"Was buying an entire Stylenanda store necessary? You crazy woman, answer your phone! Dammit!"
The last time she had felt this petrified, it had been in third grade back in America, when one of the boys had snuck a life-sized cardboard cutout of Bill Cosby into a bathroom stall for absolutely no reason at all. Aera had played the part of the poor, unsuspecting victim, and she’d wet her favorite Scooby Doo patterned pants. Poor Scooby.
But now things were different. Aera was an adult. Now, she had total and full control over her bladder, and she would absolutely NOT make a fuss. She’d calm Jongin down very, veeeery nicely over a very dignified phone call conversation and everything would be peachy keen.–Ah, who am I kidding. I am so screwed.
And as always, whenever Aera somehow managed to land herself back into the prime spot of receiving her brother’s old stink eye yet again, she went for Plan A.
A IS FOR AEGYO: ie., A Korean word that refers to the act of people (particularly Korean girls) employing a sickeningly cutesy behavior in an attempt to appear attractive (usually towards boys). Aera scrunched up her nose in disgust. She couldn’t care less about trying to appear attractive in the eyes of Jongin – she just wanted to live to breathe for another day, and her boss was going to have her hide if she didn’t make it for her shift on Saturday night. She could already feel a migraine coming on.
[text ↠ ge] but oppa!!11!!!!1!~~ ♡♡♡[text ↠ ge] i thought you wanted me to look pretty all the time?//??/?//? ¯\(◡‿◡✿) /¯[text ↠ ge] and there were just sooo many things i wanted ( つ゚Д゚)つ[text ↠ ge] so forgive me???? please??? ♡♡♡[text ↠ ge] i promise to–
ABORT MISSION A. I REPEAT: ABORT MISSION A.Ugh. No. Even that was way too much for her. Aera shuddered. BACKSPACE BACKSPACE BACKSPACE.So, after casting a last pleading glance out of the window for the powers above to have mercy on her spirit, Aera decided to go for Plan B instead.
B IS FOR BLESS MY SOUL: ie., Who cares, I already know I’m getting skinned and boiled alive tomorrow anyway so if I’m going down, I’m going down fighting with pride.
[text ↠ ge] I CAN EXPLAIN.[text ↠ ge] Okay but they were having a FIFTEEN-PERCENT OFF SALE on like EVERYTHING so if you look at things in a positive light I was actually saving you good money–[text ↠ ge] And you are so exaggerating. I did NOT buy out the entire store. Just, y’know, maybe a little over half.[text ↠ ge] But I’m a girl! We need summer supplies! [text ↠ ge] Plus, all proceeds from the sale went to a charity of some sort AND EVERYTHING WAS PAID FOR IN YOUR NAME so you should be happy. You gave back to society![text ↠ ge] Do not kill me. Do not do anything rash. Do NOT use my fear of lightning against me. [text ↠ ge] 我爱你。
And then she prayed and waited for salvation to come.
