Hotel del Luna: the "Guest House of the Moon" is not like any other hotel. A supernatural place, the hotel is not visible in its true form during the daytime as humans can only come across the hotel under special circumstances such as an invitation or lunar eclipse. Its staff and clients are all souls/ghosts coming to terms with unfinished business in their former lives before they pass on to the afterlife and cycle of reincarnation; the staff in particular have been there for decades and even centuries as they have not settled their grudges.

the witch of memory is member number nine of the phantom troupe { they call themselves the spiders }, a vicious gang of thieves who care for none but their own. as one of the troupe’s original members, she is loved and respected by the others, and her unique ability to search through the memories of anybody she meets makes her a valuable asset. but it is this very ability that makes her a target when the crimson-eyed { moon-killer }, hell-bent on revenge against the troupe for the massacre of his clan, hunts down the spiders. he wraps a steel-sharp chain around her heart, binding her to his conditions...and the witch of memory makes the ultimate sacrifice in defying his orders to protect her friends.

If you had left town 3 hours ago, like you were supposed to, you wouldn’t be in this mess. To be sure, when you got home you were certainly going to be lectured to by your mother, aunt, and older sister for being stupid. All the women in the village knew to never to travel the path north of the river because that took you past the Dark Manor, rumored to be the home of the Dark Fairies- six ugly beings wrapped in metal with wings of black- brothers who carried off innocent women to who knows what fate – for they were never seen or heard from again.

You were certain, of course, that the stories weren’t true. And you had always wanted a glimpse of the Manor…although you might have preferred this act of defiance to have taken place at midday, rather than the gathering gloom.

But you had taken too long…spent too much time choosing a book at the bookstore, and then wandered the market slowly while enjoying the attention the town boys were lavishing on you. You had been ready to leave, but then the rain that had been threatening to come finally did, and the downpour washed out the footbridge on the path south of the river. So here you were, dusk falling and the full moon rising hurrying home on the Forbidden Path.

Suddenly there was a gust of wind and a rush of wings right over your head. You fell to your knees and wrapped your arms over your head expecting some kind of blow. When nothing happened, you slowly lifted your head to find yourself surrounded.

Six men with wings as black as night, and faces that still held the beauty of when they were beings of light encircled your crouched form.

“Well well well! What have we here?”

“It’s been so long since we’ve had a visitor.”

“Left all alone…deprived of company…”

“Companionship…entertainment…”

“What did you bring us little one?” asked the one with pink hair. “Ravi- see what treasures she has brought for us.”

The creature with hair white as snow and a body decorated with ink stepped forward and peered into your basket. “Eggs…apples…ahhh! N! She has brought us honey!” he declared, eliciting pleased murmurs from the group. “…and books”, he said with a raised eyebrow as five of the fae turned to stare at the sixth. “Her spirit calls to you, Leo.”

Leo stepped forward, folding his wings to his back, and bent down to take your hand and raise you to your feet. You had the impression of fluffy jet black hair that matched his wings, full lips, and piercing blue eyes- one of which was covered by a barbed eyepatch. He was danger and beauty, and you felt your pulse quicken. He looked you up and down, before smiling slightly. “Hello beautiful one. I am Leo. May I have your name?”

…and like a fool, you gave it to him.
