Wyrms Wyrm is a catch-all term for any kind of dragon with a long and low or serpentlike body plan. It includes amphibious creatures, invertebrates, and more.

Salamanders Hexapod amphibians that spend part of their life as fully aquatic limbless larva. Tend to be at least somewhat tied to water or damp places as adults. The slime secreted by their skin has fire-retardant properties. Their skin contains powerful poison but not their flesh. To harvest the meat of a salamander its recommended to be very careful to cleanly remove the skin without knicking the underlying flesh too often.

Knuckers Very large salamanders that are known to inhabit freshwater habitats. Including wells and water barrels. They are largely solitary. Males are only a third the size of females and go wandering in search of mates during spring/the rainy season. Adult centaurs are too big to be prey of knuckers, but young foals have to be cautious

Sheep/Woolies A domesticated variety of medium-sized herbivorous salamander Grow wool as a defensive measure. People keep them for wool and meat.

Knuckers are dragons that were found in Sussex England. Knuckers are described as long, pink dragons with very small wings, a forked tongue, and small ears. Knuckers get their name from the word “Nicor” which means “Water Monster” and they were normally found living in wells called Knuckerholes where they came out of to eat livestock and attack encroaching intruders.

While ferrapin are descended from turtles, knucker dragons were magically manipulated from lampreys over the course of generations. Modern knuckers however, are several times a man’s size, easily capable of swallowing him whole. Despite the popular public image of a fire breathing dragon, knuckers cannot produce even a spark. However, they are able to produce blasts of water from a specialized pouch in their throat, with the colorful patches on their skin glowing shortly before the blast. This water is hot to the point of boiling, and is mixed with a variety of toxic and caustic chemicals; arguably a fate worse than being set on fire. Additionally, if a knucker is provided with leystone, it will happily chew it up and add it to it’s pouch, causing it’s mixture to destroy magical shields as well.

Knuckers are the exclusive property of the Sentor family, and are used primarily in Thal’nasia’s banks, treating the collective wealth of the city as their hoards. To put it simply, with knuckers around, there has never been a successful robbery of a Sentor bank. Their ferocity is unmatched, and they are difficult to contain without specially trained handlers. The relationship with that handler is started at birth. A knucker’s life begins with a cluster of eggs held together in a mermaid purse structure. When each egg hatches, the contents are all dumped into the interior of the mermaid purse at once, including the baby knucker. From there, the largest, strongest knucker dragon devours its siblings and the rest of the contents of the purse before chewing its way out. From there, the knucker grows at a voracious pace under the careful supervision and training of its handler, reaching full size in about 2 years, but slowly growing for the rest of its life. Most knucker dragons are culled at about 60 years of age, before they get too big for even their trainers to control.

While the full sized knuckers can only be legally owned by the bank, there are miniature sized knuckers available for purchase by the public. These knuckers are just as fearsome, but are only as long as one’s arm, easily hiding up a sleeve, and only have a venomous bite as opposed to the scalding breath. However, they are still difficult to breed, producing only one hatchling per clutch, and as a result are very expensive. Because of this, they are owned by Thal’nasia’s wealthy as (supposedly) an anti-pickpocketing measure, treating their owner’s jewelry as their ‘hoard’. More than that though, they are primarily a status symbol due to how expensive they are. There are much more efficient ways of preventing thievery, and frankly, miniature knuckers are miserable creatures to own. They’re highly aggressive, even to their own masters, greedy, and nearly impossible to train. Needless to say, owning a knucker is an task that is not to be taken lightly.

Sonic AU Brainstorms

So I've been coming up with ideas for an AU series focusing on Knuckles. Here are my thoughts so far:

Their world is very heavily based on the OVA's world

Knuckles is a treasure hunter and wears the hat, just like the OVA

Sonic is a werewolf (meaning he turns into the Werehog every full moon)

Tails is a girl (no particular reason for this change; I guess I thought just it would be interesting to explore?)

Knuckles is pretty much a blend of his Game and Boom selves (goofy and dorky with a love for nature; also quick-tempered/hot-headed and gullible; believes there's good in everyone)

Rouge is also a treasure hunter, and is basically Knuckles' rival--they have kind of a love/hate relationship going on (I think they secretly like each other xD)

I'm so used to Eggman being a funny villain at this point that making him a dark villain here just wouldn't feel right...however, I want to have a dark and serious villain that is a serious threat, so I might need another Big Bad for the series...(Eggman of course would still be in the series, he just wouldn't be the biggest threat to the Mobians)

I have no idea if the Chaos Emeralds or Master Emerald would be a part of this universe or not. I think at least the Master Emerald would exist, but how would Knuckles be able to balance guarding it and treasure hunting?

The series would be mainly focused on Knuckles instead of Sonic. Sonic and Tails are still major characters though.

If this universe has the Master Emerald: the Guardian (who, of course, is currently Knuckles) will reincarnate upon death in a similar way to a Chao. The Emerald does this because the echidnas are an endangered species and therefore very rare, so the Guardian is continually reincarnated to ensure that there always is a Guardian--because if there isn't someone around to protect the Emerald, something very bad will happen... (NOTE: This was inspired by a post on "hedgecanons". Credit goes to whoever submitted that headcanon.)

I have no idea if Angel Island would be a thing in this universe.

Sonic and Tails live in the Land of the Sky, while Knuckles, Rouge and Eggman live in the Land of Darkness.

I'd like to include the Chao in this AU. (They're too cute to leave out xD)

Tails has the special ability to come back to life if (s)he dies. However, this has its limits, so Tails isn't completely immortal, but will probably live a very long life. (Of course this is inspired by the classic games xD)

Amy might exist in this universe. Maybe she'd look a little similar to her classic self, but have her Boom personality?

Shadow would be a mostly neutral character--he doesn't have a specific side he's on. At first he just temporarily teams up with someone based on how beneficial the alliance is to himself. However, after some character development, his team-ups are still temporary, but are now based on whether or not he agrees with the cause they are fighting for, and are no longer for his own benefit only.

Whacha guys think so far? Any suggestions?

I got 100 followers on my RP blog :D I ended up celebrating by rerecording my Knuckles lines thing. I think it's quite an improvement over my first one ^_^

I can just imagine though: After the gang got home from the circus incident, Kumiko's motherly side would come out and she would tend to Knuckles' head and fuss over her poor baby until he was feeling better.
