I customised my broken Knights of Guinevere pin set
Back in March, many people including myself ordered these pins which unfortunately arrived chipped (My Gwen and Andy were chipped, Frankie survived). I contacted Glitch support and they were able to send me new ones which came perfectly (Huge shout out to Izzi for helping me out!). They never asked for the old ones to be send back so I decided to customise them based on the apocalyptic themes of the show!

Before and after + extra piece I made for the frankie shaped hole:
I added glitter on afterwards, was gonna make it outlined until I learned my glitter lied to me and it wasn't actually pink 💀

WIP photos and context below:
Materials used: acrylic paint/paint pens, watercolour, coloured pencils, fineliner, pencil sketch to trace and modify the original illustration.
Brainstorm: I was going to make more placeholders for the good pin set box since my pins are on the wall, but I decided against it just so I can keep the option of having them in and out the box.
Sketch and fineliner: tracing paper was used to get the proportions correct so I could modify it to look like Broken Gwen. I then used the light box to trace it with fineliner on paper.
The part where I almost scrapped it :'):
Oh boy this is a story. Being a mixed/multi media artist, I found it very hard to choose which media would be best to render this. At first I tried acrylic paint for a base before using coloured pencils... which turned out to be a DISASTER!! I even ripped the paper which really upset me to the point I had to step back from the project for a bit...
When I returned to it, I had 2 ideas: Either cut out the background and draw a new one, or push through the imperfections (which helped symbolise Broken Gwen vs perfect princess Guinevere)
I chose the 2nd option for both the symbolism I just described and because too many layers of paper might have made it harder to shut the box, and I didnt want to spend even more time redrawing the background.
I kinda improvised while rendering and luckally it looks brilliant now! You can't even notice the rip anymore :) yaaayy
I love her she’s soooo pretty they did such a good job with her!
Her hair makes my brain go brrr for some reason I love it it’s so SHAPED and her dress is so flowy it’s great!
Also small design detail that I love, the expression on her face. At a glance she looks friendly, but her expression is kind of intense and bordering on a thousand yard stare and they did that by having her eyes wide so you can see the white all the way around the iris which gives her a really staring unnerving quality. In art, if you want to give a character a soft look to their facial expression you have the eyes hooded to some degree, so the white is obscured on the top or bottom of the eye. They definitely got the “I’m being held hostage blink SOS in Morse code” look for her, absolutely stellar design!
Here she is on my shelf with Tech and Omega giving her open guts a highly concerned look!
Hey so. The teeth pulled being canines is not a theory. It's confirmed/canon(?) Question mark only bc this is merch, but I am assuming that it's canon based on this and all the theories about it.
^ Description of Frankie's hat on the KOG merch site btw
Frankie really was "declawed" for biting to be less effective.... Frankie has no (upper?) canine teeth.
