[Afu, Rose Centurion]

Toa of Stone and Deputy of the Gatiya, Afu is many things: a warrior, an artist, a showman and a tactician. Flamboyant and dramatic, he is skilled at turning any fight he's a part of into a theatrical show. Though his shenanigans and slight ego might lead one to view him as a jester, he is in fact the most technically skilled of the team . He uses a Great Komau alongside his shield and Rosetta Warpick to orchestrate battles in his favor.

Gathering of Guardians

It’s been a long time since I’ve drawn some of the characters, and the first time drawing others.

From left to right: Jaav, Tropico, Ruin, Suname, Zuteila and Hotoke

Jaav has always been an enigma and makes use of himself as a spy and saboteur, altering documents written in ink. His interests in subterfuge get him into more hot water than he’d like sometimes, however.

Tropico is an outcast, given many Matoran see her as an ill omen of coming storms. Despite this she means well and tries to Shepard the storms so that many farms do not feel the brunt of a wayward hurricanes’ wrath.

Ruin guards an entire island alone, tending and protecting the resident Matoran. Being in contact with the contaminated air however has had ill effects on the Toa of Light.

Suname is the Shooting Star Toa. Another Toa of Light who is often commissioned to assist on Rahkshii hunts. In some rare cases, she’s also employed to run interference between Dark hunters and Toa. Who are her Employers? She’ll never tell.

Zuteila and Hotoke are a pair of Toa who try and keep the peace, working well together in a balance. Keeping the peace is easier said than done when fighting Pirates and running from Dark Hunters, of course.

The detail of Matoran 0's and 1's appearing in the background when Lewa uses his Noble Komau is a nice little detail. We do know that the Komau affects the mechanical aspects of their brains, after all, since it doesn't work on fleshy-brained Spherus Magnans. It most likely hacks beings' binary code.

Ah, the first time Lewa gets mind controlled. And of course the precedence of Onua being the one to save him is set. Ah, tradition.

Y'know, given how eerily possesion-via-Infected-Kanohi is portrayed here, and how traumatic being possessed by a Krana is for Lewa later, you'd think the Mask of Mind Control would be considered a bit more of an immoral mask. I suspect the reason it isn't considered one has to do with the method of control.

Infected Kanohi and Krana both work via a manner of possession. The wearer's will is suppressed and replaced by Makuta's/the Krana's. The Komau, though, if I were to guess based on how we've seen it be used, is more like real world hypnosis. It's not direct control so much as it is planting a powerful suggestion, and you likely wouldn't be able to use it to force someone to do something they wouldn't do otherwise (hurt themselves, attack a loved one, break their moral code, etc.). Mask of Hypnosis would probably be a better name for it, actually. Thus, the Kanohi Komau is not considered immoral because it doesn't rob its target of free will like Infected Kanohi and Krana do, rather it simply nudges its target toward particular actions. That's my theory, anyway.
