Can’t decide if I’d rather be Korra or be with Korra
Korra is the first fictional female character who is so cool, badass, nuanced, flawed (in a relate-able way), and well-developed that I genuinely became confused how I felt about her. I wasn’t sure if i wanted to be like her, or be with her. Probably both. As a (somewhat) normal straight guy, this was a weird, awkward, and kind of embarrassing/ uncomfortable mental place I found myself in. It really messed with my preconceived notions of gender roles and ideas of masculinity. It’s scary as a man, confessing that I identify with and admire a female character so much that I’m not sure if I’d rather be in her shoes or in her pants. It’s so hard to describe how I feel about her. I’m pretty sure if I were a woman, Korra would turn me very gay. But I’m already a guy who likes girls, so...#Korrasexual
I feel and connect with Korra’s drive, determination, willpower, and also with her suffering and pain. She has so much fire and passion, yet she is also highly introspective and reflective, especially as she develops. There is a gravity and seriousness to Korra's character that Aaang lacks. Aang is the leaf, he floats in the air currents. Korra is the blowtorch that burns with focused intensity. That’s why I don’t identify as much with Aang. But that’s why my blog is called “Korra is my homegirl”, she is my spirit animal. I love my Korra, and I will defend my homegirl. Also, she can be on top :-p
