“Thank you for coming in.” Dax and Nathan were a little late to their appointment with Camilo and Korsgaard. Nathan had made Wano promise that he wouldn't invite anyone over to the werewolf's house without permission and the alien clearly wasn't pleased with the idea but he couldn't argue with it. If he was caught again, he'd have to move back into APID all the way until his deportation day. He didn't want that so he reluctantly agreed. They left him the twins to watch and keep him busy. Camilo and Korsgaard had come in early to discuss the case before Nathan got there. They were a little tired but they both had coffees ready for themselves. “Thank you for fitting us in,” Nathan said.
“Don't mention it,” Camilo said. “I brought Korsgaard up to date on the situation and we discussed options for going forward. It's important to us that you're able to get any help from any resources you need, so we feel fit that it is… Well, it's time to let you in on some information.” Nathan blinked. “Let me in? What, is this like some top secret stuff? If there's info pertaining to my condition, I should be allowed to know it.” “Well, it is a matter of security,” Camilo admitted. “But we weighed the options and at this point, we do believe it would benefit you most to know.” “So then tell me,” Nathan huffed. “If I should know something, tell me.” Dax rubbed Nathan’s back. “Du calme, my dear. We should be grateful for any information they can share with us.” “I know, I know…” Nathan sighed. “So, what is this special information that's supposed to help me with this transformation business?” “Yesterday, you expressed the desire to be able to talk to another therianthrope like yourself,” Camilo said. “Well, we do know someone.” Nathan lit up. “Really? Who?” Camilo sighed. “Well, there’s Kent.” Nathan’s excitement was shattered. “But he’s dead.” Korsgaard took a sip of his coffee then set it down. “Dawson Grace's alive.” Nathan blinked. “Excuse me?” “He's alive.” Nathan's whole body tensed up and his mouth went dry. “I… Are you joking?” Camilo frowned. “I understand that it's hard to take in—" “Of course it's hard! You're trying to tell me that the father of my children, who was reported to have been put to death in Texas months ago, before they were even born, is actually alive right now and you knew and kept that from me!” Nathan shook his head. “Tell me you're lying.” “I'm really sorry, but there's reasons we couldn't tell you,” Camilo attempted. “Bullshit!” Nathan stood up from his chair. “If this is true, I should have been kept aware the whole time! I had his children! He’s the only other person who understands what I'm going through!” “Which is why we believe it's best we let you know about it now,” Camilo tried to explain. “He might be able to help you.” “He should've been helping me this whole time!” Nathan said. “He should've been there for his fucking kids!” Dax took Nathan's arm. “Please sit down, Nathan. You have to hear them out.” “I don't have to hear shit, I'm pissed off!” Nathan said. “I grieved the loss of a man I barely knew, gave birth to his goddamn kids and now they're trying to tell me he's alive somewhere, I dunno, doing whatever! Not being a responsible father, at least!” Camilo spread his hands. “He wants to see them, Nathan. It isn't some kind of vacation.” Nathan grit his teeth. “I really can't believe this. I can't believe this!” He slammed a fist on the table in frustration. “I trusted you!” Korsgaard stood up and tried to touch Nathan's arm. “Calm down. Let us explain.” Nathan pushed Korsgaard's hand away from him and leaned over to try and say something, but the words caught in his throat and he could only growl in anger. The whole room was alarmed by what they were seeing. Korsgaard's put his arm out to shield Camilo and push him back against the wall away from Nathan. Dax got up quickly and positioned himself in front of Nathan, patting his chest. “Nathan, I need you to relax,” Dax said, rubbing gently. “I don't want you to panic, but it appears you've transformed again.” Nathan blinked and looked at his hands, confirming Dax's observation. Fur out, claws out, his clothes torn open at the seams. He had gone wolf again and he was scared. He started panting heavily and fell back into his chair, covering his face. Korsgaard put a hand on Dax's shoulder, pulling him back. “Stand back, son.” Dax shook his head. “Thank you for your concern, but it's alright.” He started to pet Nathan's head. “Just calm down. We're all just here trying to help.” As quickly as it happened, the transformation disappeared. Fur fell away, face, teeth, claws all went back to normal, and Nathan remained, partially nude in his tattered clothing, sobbing into his hands. He leaned into Dax's arms as his partner pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back. “You're alright. You're alright,” Dax said. “You're okay. It's gone.” Korsgaard nudged Camilo. “Let a doctor know.” Camilo nodded and picked up the phone to call the medical centre. He got through to Köbi at the front desk and asked to speak with Dr. Gardi. Nathan gripped at Dax's shirt. “I can't handle this… I'm out of control…” Dax continued to rub his back. “It's okay… You haven't done anything… No one's hurt. You're just worked up over this news.” “It’s too much…” Nathan sobbed into his partner’s shoulder. “Can we get him a blanket or something?” Dax asked. “His clothes are ruined.” Korsgaard got up and offered his jacket while Camilo finished his call. “Dr. Gardi will be here to come get Nathan,” Camilo explained. “It’s probably best he gets checked out and has some time to calm down before we continue this conversation.” “Yes.” Dax helped Nathan cover up. “You’re alright, mon beau. You’re overwhelmed.” Nathan looked at Dax with tearful eyes. “What am I supposed to do? I can’t even believe what’s going on right now…” “It’s alright.” Dax rubbed his back. “Just take some deep breaths.” Reid arrived not too long later with some blankets in hand. He knocked on the door then let himself in so he could go to Nathan and put a hand on his shoulder. “Nathan? How are we feeling?” “Terrible. Miserable,” Nathan expressed, letting the doctor drape a blanket over him. “I got upset and transformed again.” “I heard… You’re alright though,” Reid said patting his arm. “You should come down to the medical ward with me. I have a wheelchair out here if you want to rest.” “I can walk, it’s fine…” Nathan said, going to the door. “Thanks…” Dax stayed with him and kept his hand in Nathan’s. “Thank you for coming so quickly, doctor.” “Don’t worry about it,” Reid said. “Just you two relax and we’ll make sure everything’s in tip top shape.” “Nathan, you just let us know when you feel comfortable to talk, okay?” Camilo said as he escorted them out of the room. “We have much to share with you.” “I should’ve already known,” Nathan said bitterly. “I should’ve known everything about him…” “I know, I’m really sorry,” Camilo said. “Our hands were tied.” “Nathan, let's not worry about that right now,” Dax said, opening the wheelchair Reid brought. “I'd like you to sit so you can relax.” Nathan sighed and plopped down in the chair, pulling the blanket closer over him. “I'm going to ruin all my shirts if this keeps up…” “Yes, let's concentrate on finding you a change of clothes,” Dax said starting to push his partner. “Dr Gardi, do you have some scrubs or something downstairs for him?” Reid nodded as they headed down to the elevator. “Don't you worry. We'll have you all changed and looked after.” Nathan just went quiet and let them wheel him away.
