30 day pride art challenge
Day 27 - stories
This is the prompt list I’m following
Octonauts AU-All together now!
Basically this is an AU where all of the octonauts and octo-agents live together in the Reef Base H.Q. The Reef Base H.Q. was shown in episode 21 of season 4-Octonauts: Above and Beyond.
Pt. 1-Quartering
Everyone is split into 6 quartering rooms known as bunkers. The bunkers include four beds and a ten by twelve space between each bed, and each space is separated by a thin, sliding wall. These walls are thin, but insulate about as well as the average wall, because on the RBHQ, the normal walls are about 10 inches thick. In between the walls is about a 3 foot gap for space and ability to leave the bunker, as it makes a hallway in the middle. Each bunker has two bathrooms including showers and toilets, a storage closet, a name, and houses about 4 people. The walls have replaceable tiles, meaning the resident can choose any color wall tiles they want for their corner. The floors are hardwood. Any differences are stated in the bunker's description, and all bunkers are listed below.
---
The Captains' Bunker
Includes:
Capt. Barnacles
C/M Kwazii
2/O Tweak
2/O Dashi
This bunker is designed differently than the others. It's split into two parts-the lower deck, on the same level as all other bunkers, and the upper deck, separated by three stairs. On the lower deck, Tweak sleeps on the left side and Dashi sleeps on the right. On the upper deck, Capt. Barnacles takes the left side and Kwazii takes the right. Barnacles and Kwazii get the upper deck because they have the official titles of Captain (Capt) and First Mate (C/M). Tweak and Dashi have the official titles of Engineer and IT Officer respectively, but they both have the title of Second Mate (2/O), hence why they are in the Captains' Bunker. The bathrooms are more spacious in this bunker.
The Seniors' Bunker
Includes:
Prof. Natquik
Prof. Inkling
RGR Marsh
Pir. Calico Jack
The Seniors' Bunker is missing one bed, and that's because Inkling doesn't sleep in a bed-he prefers a chair. Inkling is in the bottom left corner, Natquik is in the top left corner, Calico Jack is in the top right corner, and Marsh is in the bottom right corner. It's miserable, because since Calico's been alone on conquests for so many years, he's forgotten he snores really fucking loudly. And all three others in the room have sensitive hearing. Exhibit A: Calico Jack: *Peacefully snoring*
Prof. Natquik: "..I'm going to shove a shoe down his throat."
Ranger Marsh: "Please do.."
Prof. Inkling: "Perhaps investing in earplugs would be a better solution?"
Prof. Natquik: “I can’t wear earplugs! I need to hear any possible noise around me."
Prof. Inkling: "You're almost more paranoid than our favorite snorer over there." He points to Calico Jack, who is still blissfully unaware that the people next to him are about to give him a DIY lobotomy.
The Vegimals' Bunker
Includes:
Tunip
Grouber
Barrot
Codish
Halibeet
Sharchini
Tominnow
Pikato
The Vegimals' Bunker does not have slide out walls. They all worked together with Shellington to decorate the walls with a pastel rainbow scheme. This bunker has 8 small beds, and they have two extra bathrooms because they have double the residents. Tunip has caught his siblings multiple times in their shenanigans in the middle of the night, but can’t really stop them all.
The Juniors' Bunker
Includes:
Bud
Koshi
Pinto
Periwinkle
Bud is basically the babysitter for Periwinkle, because Periwinkle is a baby and Bud is the most responsible one in the room, being the oldest. There are two beds in the storage closet of this room for when Ursa and Olson come to the RBHQ. Occasionally, older members come in to take care of/hang out with younger members.
Unnamed Bunkers
these are the two bunkers I couldn’t decide on names for. Help me out guys :(
Bunker 1
Peso

I really like this idea, so add onto it freely! Make headcanons, draw comics, have fun!
Day 3: Storytime
Dashi: reading a National Seagraphic magazine
Koshi: reading some sort of mystery novel
Peso: reading the Octopod mannual
Pinto: reading a comic book
Peral: reading her kelp notebook
Periwinkle: snuggling next to Mama
Back to this question by @jetecat , I was asked to add onto these characters specifically!
Again, warning for Horror!!
So, I’ll start with: Peso.
-
Peso.
Peso had been the first.
A young boy, the son of a scientist. The little one had been curious, wanted to see what his father did! After all, his dad worked in a science lab, and that made Peso dream. Some day, he could be a doctor.
So, he was visiting the lab one day, being in the company of his father and his father’s team. It was fascinating… Everything they worked with required hazmat suits! A development that would, “change the world!”
At least that’s what the scientists said.
Peso spent days on days following his father, watching the things they would work on. From the animals they extracted their DNA from, to the machines they used to… do whatever! The young boy didn’t know yet, most of the information was [redacted].
One day, there was a quiet discussion, one Peso couldn’t hear… which was odd. Until his father stepped back, screaming at the others, and pointing accusing fingers. “No!” He argued. “I would never allow such a thing!”
The team stared blankly at him… before nodding their heads slowly. What did they just agree to? Peso was curious.
As the day sank away, Peso got ready for bed. As he entered his room- those people in hazmat suits were waiting for him, tempting him into going with them… offering to teach him about what they were doing.
He agreed! Being the young, innocent, and curious boy he is as, he had to figure out it out, right? And he trusted these people! They worked with his dad, they’d never hurt him, right? … right?
That’s what he had thought, until the moment he was being cuffed to an examination table, a bright light being shone in his eyes… and a syringe- with perhaps the largest needle he had ever seen attached, descended on him.
He cried out, lashed, kicked the best he could with his little legs to deter the hazmat freaks away from him. Yet, a painful piercing feeling on his neck rendered him unconscious.
The people he trusted, betrayed him..?
As he came back through, he felt.. cold. He lifted his eyes, staring in shock as he was placed in a colder room. He hurried to the door, slamming on it desperately, begging for his father to help him, to save him.
But when the door opened, he was just greeted with a look of terror from his father- who stumbled back and closed the door in his face, leaving him there alone, body still actively changing. Painfully… painfully changing.

Shellington, Pearl, and Periwinkle.
Shellington and Pearl had gone to pick up Peri from daycare. Pearl, who had been busy with work, had left her little one to daycare. Of course, she chose the most reliable daycare in town, a comfy place with amazing staff who she grew to know personally.
Yet, as she and her brother arrived, Shellington glanced around nervously. Peri wasn’t there.
Both of the Marine Biologists panicked, running around the nursery, trying to find someone who knew where he was. The main caretaker had been equally distraught, and dialed for the police.
Meanwhile, Shellington and Peal had quickly gone off, searching nearby forestry, hoping and praying to whoever is out there that Peri has simply wandered down a path out of curiosity. But, what welcomed them wasn’t a pleasant sight.
Peri was laying on the ground, face-down, body almost looking… mutilated. Yet, he rose up, begging and crying. “Mommy! Uncle Shelly! It hurts! Why?”
The poor boy looked so much like an otter… developed fur, a tail, half his face seemed to shift. Thick fur sprouted from his back and neck.
Pearl screamed out, running to her little one, and Shellington stumbled, falling back against a tree, a hand covering his mouth.
Who would do this..? Why would they do this? Who could cause this little one so much pain..!?
Shellington and Pearl would soon find out… as they watched them behind the trees, or hidden beneath leaves in camo. Watching. Waiting… they’d strike again…

Dashi and Koshi.
Things had been tense in Dashi’s family… very tense. Her family had been getting more and more demanding; always yelling, fighting, and no place for Dashi and her sister to be staying…
So she packed some stuff, for both her and her sister in the middle of the night. She powered her phone off after checking for the nearest town, and threw it across her room. She wouldn’t risk being hunted down.
By midnight, her and Koshi had snuck out, running through their forested backyard, trying to get away- to find a road, so Dashi could get a Taxi.
Koshi was getting tired, and Dashi had to carry her… but she paused in her steps, hearing multiple footsteps approaching. It caused her adrenaline to spike. Who could possibly know she was out there!? No one was awake when they left.
Finally, she caught a glimpse of yellow before something pierced the back of her neck. Her vision went black and she collapsed.
When she awoke, Koshi was shaking her, crying, and whining like a puppy. Dashi groaned, her body still throbbing in pain.
“Oh, you silly girls… your parents knew you’d do this eventually,” a voice taunted. “Welcome to your new home…” A man in a hazmat suit taunted them. As they glanced around, their features different, their bodies in excruciating pain, they were horrified to realize just how many people had been through the same thing they had.
A penguin… An octopus… a cat, three otters, a green rabbit… and a polar bear.
And now Dashi and Koshi were added to the list…
They were… dogs..?
And each of the enclosures were heavily guarded by the hazmat freaks…
And slowly, they turned to look at the girls, their smiles far more visible than they should be…
They’d never get out of here…
