Since I knew I’d be drawing a lot of characters for this one, I put the all on a wheel, spun it and let fate decide. The only character I chose myself was Haraka, since I wanted to draw her really badly lol. You can tell it’s my first time drawing her, and Selva too
Cap. Barnacles: Only the basics. He grew up around people with PhD's who have made revolutionary discoveries yet can't work a microwave.
Kwazii: NO. Kwazii is absolutely banned from the kitchen.
Peso: He can make pretty complex things with instructions, but he's useless without. He's also a medic so he tends to forget to make his nutrient dense patient meals actually palatable.
Tweak: Like her dad, she can make home-cooked simple meals, but nothing fancy. She makes a MEAN crab boil, but can't make it because they're literally in the middle of the ocean and Peso will tell her she's traumatizing Professor Inkling. Y'know, the Prof. Inkling who loves crab boil as long as it's not too spicy? yeah, him.
Dashi: She's not great at cooking but is really good at baking. She taught the Vegimals how to bake.
Shellington: Never let him into a kitchen without someone supervising, he will think of something to add to his records on an animal and forget he was cooking. He can only use the microwave.
Professor Inkling: Unlike other professors (*cough cough* NATQUIK), Professor Inkling is actually really good at cooking. He's not great at seasoning, being British, but Tweak picks up his slack in that department.
Inkling and Tweak worked together to teach the Vegimals how to cook.
-The Vegimals-
Tunip: Tunip is the best at cooking out of the Vegimals. Being the oldest, he's usually the one to handle anything hazardous like ovens, hot pans, and particularly sharp knives.
Grouber: This big back only learned how to cook so he could make himself actually decent midnight snacks without stealing from Tunip.
Barrot: Barrot has a minimal hand in the kitchen because he sucks at cleaning his own messes.
Tominnow: While she is allowed in the kitchen, she isn't allowed to do much because she's the youngest and can barely hold a knife straight.
Codish: Codish also has very little appearances in the kitchen because he's so clumsy.
Pikato: Same situation as Tominnow, but even less so, because he's mainly a cleaner.
Halibeet: Halibeet isn't in the kitchen much just because he doesn't like cooking at all. He'll only help in the kitchen if Codish drags him in.
Sharchini: The second-best at cooking, Sharchini rarely leaves the kitchen.
-The Octo-Agents-
Paani: Paani is a chef, so of course he's the best at cooking of the octo-agents. He can make basically anything, but is best with Indian food.
Prof. Natquik: He sucks at cooking, so he survives on takeout and microwave meals at the big age of 54.
Calico Jack: Only slightly better than Kwazii, but still banned from being in a kitchen. He got banned from the kitchen by Marsh when Calico Jack, Ranger Marsh, and Natquik were having a dad-day, and Calico nearly set the entire everglades on fire by putting a small metal tray In the microwave.
Tracker: He's surprisingly good at cooking, for some odd reason. Maybe it was the loving family, who knows.
Ryla: She can't cook because she'll forget to check if she has all the ingredients for a recipe, then use so many wrong substitutes that it becomes inedible, but she'll still eat it because she is a garbage disposal for food.
Pearl: Absolutely!
Bianca: Maybe, but I feel like she has mediocre cooking and nobody will tell her except Olson.
Min: Probably, but only the chinese food her parents taught her how to make. Also, Min strikes me as a vegetarian, so she probably can't cook meat-based stuff very well.
Ranger Marsh: He can make simple, really good home-cooked meals, but again, nothing fancy.
Selva: There's no way she isn't a great cook

Octodads
Ranger Marsh is the oldest of the Octo dads, in my opinion like 50-60s
Calico Jack, Natquik and Pete, are around 40-50s (Nat defiantly is in his 40s in my amnesiac villain Barnacles au)
Octoagents
Pearl is, I think, Shellington's older sister, an mother of Perriwinkle, so probably late 20s to early 30s
Ryla, physically 30 something, mentally 18-19
Selva, don't know much about her yet so I estimate mid-late 20s
Haraka, same thing, so early-ish 30s most
Paani, probably 20s-30s
Min, possibly 20 something, looks young, but also has known Inkling for some time, so 20s-30s
Tracker, lowkey probably the youngest Octoagent, about early to mid 20s
Jr Octoagents
Bud, I haven't watched his debut episode but Bud is probably in the transition stage from Jr to normal Octoagent, so mid to late teens to very early 20s, early adolescence basically
Pinto, early to mid teens
Koshi, also early to mid teens, but older than Pinto and more trusted
Orson and Ursa, I know they aren't official Jr Octoagents, but still, and Before anyone comes at me, although their debut episode released like a month later than Peri's, in his debut episode, he was a literal baby, so anyway, so what, 6 to preteens, maybe 8 to preteens
Perriwinkle, literally the youngest of the Jr octoagents and was literally a baby in his debut episode, so 4 to pre pre teens, like 4 to 8 or 9
Octonauts
Inkling, the eldest full stop, maybe 60-70s, but then again and this relates to my sexuality headcanons post, but biologically like salmon, Octopi die after they reproduce, basically the 70 year old octopus, not to be rude to Inkling
Barnacles and Bianca, yes I know she's not an octonaut, but they are literally twins, so 30s and just so it better lines up with Natquik's age(s), 30-40s to his 40-50s, make sense
Kwazii, most likely similar age to Paani, so mid 20s to early 30s
Peso, I know I saw a post saying that they don't believe that Peso has a medical degree, but for the sake of it let's say he does, this makes Peso at least mid 20s, so like mid to late 20s
Tweak, like the original Octonaut, built the Octopod and the gups and the old octopod, so obviously 30s-40s to match the captain's age
Dashi, she's obviously slightly younger than Peso so mid-ish to late 20s
Shellington, obviously the youngest Octonaut (not counting the Vegimals), he's super clumsy on land, which is a natural sea otter trait, but seems more so than Pearl, the main thing that convinces me he is the youngest though is his lack of driving skills.
The Vegimals (tv apperance only)
Tunip, obviously he's the eldest of the vegimals, he acts like the captain to the other vegimals on their side missions
Grouber, maybe middle to an older one
Pikato, not one of the older ones or younger ones
Halibeet, in the middle
Sharchinni, probably the oldest of the ones in the middle group
Codish, clearly one of the younger ones, he is a bit clumsy, probably gets it from Shellington
Barrot, literally really fast, basically a toddler on caffine, so one of the younger ones
Tomminow, my transfem baby tomminow, she is the youngest, and the cutest in my oppionion, of the vegimals
I think the Octo-agents are very good helpers. People we need from time to time but don’t need often enough to have them on the Octopod.
Paani is very nice. He’s actually pretty funny, and makes good food. He is very helpful and always willing to tag along.
Selva is such a sweet lady. I think she helped the vegimals get some honey for my birthday- she didn’t even know me! And botany is actually a very useful skill for us. It helps to know more about the plants that the animals eat.
Calico Jack obviously did a good his best to raise Kwazii, and cares for Kwazii deeply. He is surprisingly good with baby animals. But we need to have a chat with him about sounding the octo-alert just to say hi.
Basically the same for Ranger Marsh. He cares deeply for Tweak, and loves to see her new inventions. His knowledge on the Everglades and similar swampy areas can be valuable. He has a sightly more old-fashioned way of things compared to the high tech of the Octopod, which is refreshing at times, and comes in handy when things glitch on our end.
Ryla is an interesting person. She helped Peso and I in Saint Actun, and I won’t forget that. But she also had a knack for getting stuck in dangerous situations that really make you wonder how the **** she got there. She might be prepared for it, but still…
Tracker is a good friend of mine. We’ve known each other since we were cubs, and have a lot in common. Our shared experiences from the Polar Bear Scouts often come in handy, and having him working at the emergency outpost means we help each other out a lot.
Professor Natquik is basically a second father to me. He was my scoutmaster when I was a cub, and he was a good friend with my actual father. He would make cookies for the scouts all the time, and Tracker and I would shovel the dock in hopes of getting a few extra cookies from him.
(I’m sorry, I haven’t watched too much of Above and Beyond- so I only wrote the ones I’ve actually seen episodes with. :( pardon my ignorance lol)
