Thank Arceus you're back! I've been sitting on this since you left and thought it might cheer you up!
Emmet wasn't sure what was going on, sure he knew what was happening but that didn't actually mean he understood what was happening.
Being reunited with Ingo was the best thing that ever happened to him, it was a day he had dreamt about since his disappearance. Honestly, even after a month he was expecting to wake up alone in his home, expecting to never have found his twin and never actually will.
Now as much as he loves having his brother back, he wasn't exactly prepared for the situation he found himself in. In his dream, Ingo would return and everything would just go back to how things were before, like he was a puzzle piece just temporarily misplaced and finally slotted back in place. But that's not what he got.
Ingo was different now. It was small at first, his eyes were abit too sunken in and his posture was slouched but it just escalated from there. He walked differently. He spoke differently. And worse of all was how he battled and smiled differently. Almost anyone else wouldn't be able to pick up those differences, they were only the subtlest of subtle changes but Emmet was hyper aware of them.
Then Ingo had brought him into the kitchen and asked him to kneel in front of a large bowl full of rice.
Emmet knelt but didn't understand what Ingo had planned. He was too busy think about how different they were now. What did this mean for them in the future? How could they run the Multi Line together if they were so different now? How could they run the Battle Subway in general together if they were so different now?
The dull thud of a mallet hitting the rice shock him from his thoughts. He looked at his twin who motioned to flip the rice. Ingo not talking wasn't often a good sign so he complied with flipping the rice over with no complaints. Guess it was silent time for the two of them.
Once Emmet hand was well out of the way, Ingo stuck the rice again and motioned for Emmet to flip it again.
Soon the pair had a silent rhythm going. Soon they were able to pick up the pace. Soon the pair was in perfect sync and they made mochi.
Emmet looked up to at Ingo, their pace never slowly, and looked harder at his smile. Ingos smile was different but only in the superficial way, it looked different but it felt the same.
Emmet had spent so much time dwelling on his ideal fantasy that he was blinded from the truth. That this was his brother, Ingo was there and so was their bond. Just like Ingos memories, it just needed a little time to recover.
It might not be ideal, but it was a truth that Emmet was happy with.
WAHHHHHHHH OH MY GOSH THIS WAS SO SWEET THANK YOU FOR SHARING 😭😭😭😭
