In the DC comic, the portrayal of Adam as openly villainous from the start and never having cared about Blake is way more complimentary than the grooming and abuse implications-with-no-confirmation. this thread and its pic sums it all up alright

Adam was 0% into her. She proceeded to believe there was something between her and the dark, mysterious, rough, edgy boy in the mask.

He stood in front of her with deep tissue trauma on his face. She proceeded to romanticize a slave brand.

We now have the option of taking "My love" and "Isn't this what you wanted?" lines as properly scathing and said with genuine dislike. Ditto with "The Belladonna name has brought me nothing but pain!" to be honestly hateful, cringe-inducing as it was to hear.

Deliberately, at no point did he return any of her affection. And she proceeded to act in-series in the way that (the American producers and writers and most of the audience) recognize as abuse coded.

At no point did she think about what he could be feeling or what he might be thinking... while she was supposedly together with him? Seriously, have a look thru it sometime, she just walks into his life and he doesn't reciprocate. There's grounds to say she dehumanized him by continuing to believe what she wanted and not hearing otherwise instead of actually accepting his input, lol

I sure hope this is the type of shit Blake was talking about when she said she had grown, changed and moved on.

I love how often this show's canon is actually only pseudo-canon comics that are canon until they're inconvenient or a voice actor's response on a panel or something cool that gets contradicted one episode later or or or

Had a dream of Adam griping to one of his men about how he spent hours, one night, looking through the seemingly endless sub-links and dark-net sources behind a dumb conspiracy theory. Then he went back to the normal internet and (Remnant equivalent of) Google it... to find a history wiki page about it. "Turns out it wasn't even a conspiracy theory, some fucker online just tricked me into studying history."

Ilia "I attended a private school" Amitola vs Adam "I was a child slave" Taurus, except it's just Ilia finding more and more creative ways to get Adam to study things useful outside of combat.
