ivycat (ivy pepper/selina kyle): your ideal relationship dynamic is girls being friends... gals being pals.
eccoivy (ecco/ivy pepper): you are a lesbian who came to gotham after reading batman comics. you are also stronger than any us marine, and quite possibly in the wrong fandom.
Oswald and Ed couldn't happen in s3. For two good and simple reasons: 1. Oswald wasn't ready to love someone and 2. Ed was a servant.
Hear me out
1. Oswald was unconditionally loved by his parents, and he always have it only for him. He never needed to share that love with someone, she never had to let it go. So, when he falls in love with Ed, its a rough and straight feeling. He wants Ed for him, and he has no doubts, in any moment, that ed won't love him back.
After all, Ed would do anything for him, right? Thats a love language, right? Well, it was, for Oswald. So, when Isabella shows up, kissing Ed, after Oswald told her about Arkham and Kristen. He feels attacked. He used the first opportunity to take her away from Ed. Didn't work, she refuse to let Ed go, so, Oswald couldn't lose this fight, or Ed, he couldn't accept the idea that maybe Ed is happy with her (ik that relationship was frightening but thats not the point) and maybe Oswald should accept that he and Ed wouldn't be together.
But he couldn't. Oswald was selfish, jealous and controlling. He said it himself, he couldn't share Ed, he couldn't give up from him for Ed's happiness. Even after Isabella died, he wasn't a good friend. Ed lost his girlfriend, someone who ( precipitated or not) he had strong feelings for, he was suffering, and Oswald couldn't even say something nice, couldn't support him or give a mourning period, he only wants that Ed forgot this girl.
and...even though Isabella didn't exist or Ed had gone to that dinner, Oswald wouldn't be different, he stills a manipulative and possessive man. And why Ed wouldn't handle this?
2. Ed was intensively grateful to Oswald, not just this, he wanted to protect him, to prove he deserved Oswald's attention, to please him. He said "I would do anything for you" and he would. He also was afraid to disappoint him, ignoring the fact that Ed was in love with Oswald, he saw Oswald as a guide, someone who knows Ed as he truly are, someone who understands him. And Ed would do anything to prove he's worthy.
And this made Ed vulnerable. Being so dedicated to Oswald, so obedient to him. Its not something new to Ed. Every Ed's relationship work in this way, Ed obeying his partner. Ee obeyed Kristen and pleased her, even that horrible decision to tell her about Dougherty's death was something he did to show her that he was worthy of her love, that he could protect her. Ed obeyed Isabella when she did that creepy vertigo scene, dressing like Kristen, he wanted to protect and to be good for her. Ed also obeyed Lee, he was able to KILL HIMSELF FOR HER, what is definitely not healthy in anyway, but Ed almost did it. And, he would have done that for Oswald.
If they were a couple in s3, Ed would put himself in every type of danger for Oswald, putting Butch against Oswald and almost dying cuz of this was an example. Not just killing for Oswald, he would die for Oswald. This can sound romantic, but its not. This is not love. Ed said "love is about sacrifices." And its not. Putting the needs and the happiness of someone before your own can be very noxious at some point. But Ed believe this, and he would do it for Oswald.
Now, think about it. Unite someone so dependent and subordinate to someone controlling and manipulative is actually a good idea? I don't think so. In fact, could be dangerous to both of them.
Gotham AU where instead of being horrified Ed killed Dougherty, Kristen Kringle is instead furious because she had invited him over for dinner that night to poison him and Ed stole her moment. She's not appalled Ed killed him; she's mad he stole her thunder.
