The Electric Eel Nano Wheel

So yesterday I purchased a nano wheel and wow you guys this thing is awesome. It looks like a toy but it is a fine tuned spinning machine. (Bonus points for how cute it is) it is super user friendly and super easy to control. I would recommend it for beginners looking for a cost effective wheel and experts who want a travel wheel or something to spin fine exotic fibers on. Seriously you have so much control, I was even able to spin a cashmere blend you guys. I ran into a small issue plying but it was entirely user error.

Long story short, would I recommend one? Oh most definitely.

Custom sketchbook orders: open

So you may know already that I've been book binding lately, and I've decided that I'm going to open custom orders for small hand bound sketchbooks. Before I get into the details, heres some examples:

The details: this is your dream sketchbook. Pick whatever paper you want with whatever kind of cover you want. I'll do sizes starting at 3x3" and up to 8x10" and any size or half size in between. Covers are made of foam board and decorative cardstock, which you can choose or let me have a little creative freedom with. Heres the papers I have readily available:

Mixed media: natural white, off white, and grey. All approximately 90-120lb paper. This stuff is great for sketching and ink drawings, not so good for markers or watercolors.

Watercolor paper: 140lb hot press, 140lb cold press in white, blue, yellow, and grey.

Bristol board: vellum finish, 90lb. This paper is great for markers, it's been my go to for a while now.

If you want a paper that I don't have I'm certainly open to ordering it to bind your sketchbook. If you have a certain brand of paper you like we can discuss that too. Now, prices. Because these are so customizable, I really cant give you a quote without knowing what you want, how many pages what size, etc etc. To give you a rough estimate a small mixed media sketchbook would start around $15 for about 20 pages. A small watercolor sketchbook would be more, seeing as watercolor paper is more expensive. You can mix and match papers, want some bristol and some watercolor? No problem.

Shipping and processing info: if I have the paper for your sketchbook readily available please allow 1-2 weeks for the sketchbook to be created before its shipped. Shipping within the U.S. is $8 flat rate, 2 day priority mail. If I have to place a custom order for your paper please allow up to 3 weeks before shipment.

Over the Rainbow Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Here’s the pattern:

Materials:

2 colors DK weight yarn. I used Expression Fiber Arts Dewy DK and Alpaca Silk DK.

H 5mm hook

Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

st – stitch

blo – back loop only

*- Repeat

With first color:

Ch 9

Row 1: 1 sc in second ch from hook, sc across. (8st)

Row 2-31: 1sc in first st, 6 sc in blo, 1sc under both loops. Ch 1, turn. (8st)

Fold ribbing in half, right side facing in, and slip stitch the ch and last row together, seaming it up. Break first color. Now we're switching to working in the round.

Round 1: Join second color to the side of a row on your cuff and evenly dc in each row across, join to first st with slip stitch. Ch 2. (31 st)

Round 2- 4: 1 dc in each st around. Ch 2. (31 st)

Round 5: 13 dc, ch 5, skip next 5 sts, 13 dc. Join to first st with slip stitch, ch 2. (31 st) (Note: you might want to weave in your ends here, it'll be easier than doing it all at the end)

Round 6: 1 dc in each st around. (31 st)

Break second color.

Join first color to 1st st.

Round 7:ch 2. 1 dc in each st around (31 st)

Round 8: ch 3, skip 2 sc, 2 dc in next sc, ch-2, 2 dc in same sc * skip 4 sc, 2 dc in next sc, ch-2, 2 dc in same sc **, repeat from * to ** to the end of the row, dc in the last st, join to 2nd ch with slip stitch.

Fasten off and weave in your ends. Enjoy your new gloves!

Spin spin spin

Some more yarn spun on the nano wheel! I'm so in love with this little wheel. It was the perfect solution for me, sometimes I dont have enough focus for a treadle wheel and I dont have the patience for a spindle.
