I Wrote a Fic

Friends, after a Tumblr hiatus (life, blabla), I’ve returned to the fandom by way of writing my first fanfiction. It’s a Kurt Wagner/Rogue fic, set during Chris Claremont’s run, sometime after Uncanny X-men #204, after Kurt’s lost his faith, broke up with Amanda, and Rogue is new to the team.

The X-men are in shambles. Professor X is up in space and Magneto is the unexpected new head of the institute. Malaise is in the air.

And Dr. MacTaggert’s developed a temporary cure for Rogue.

Content/Author Notes: This takes place after Uncanny X-men 204 (1986), during Magneto's first run as head of the X-men. Kurt is years away from learning Mystique is his biological mother.

This fic is mostly dialogue, and served as a way for me to think about Kurt's and Rogue's characters at this time. There's a bit of foreshadowing on Rogue's relationship with Gambit (Remy) at the end.

I recommend this because is short but amazing. Is set in the old comics, you don’t read this kind of fics anymore and is written by a new writer and she deserve all the kudos you can give her. New writers deserve all the love we can give them.

Isn’t Rogue so easy to identify? With her white bangs and Keebler Elf hood.

Who’s she smoochin’? Hmmmmmm. Elf ears. Angled shoulder pads. Long white glove. Two fingers, one thumb . . .

Yes. This appears to be Kurt Wagner (aka Nightcrawler) engaged in a rather serious kiss with Rogue (aka Rogue). Conceptual Marvel artwork from 2014.

Take note of how Kurt clasps our heroine by the back, hard enough to dent her uniform. Note her arm folded about his neck, her other hand gripping his curly hair. Note how their eyes are squeezed shut.

This isn’t a kiss of “Dear sister, brother, thank God you’re safe!”

It’s not even “How I’ve secretly longed for you!”

No! Not good enough!

This is: “I love you, with all my heart, body, and soul. And now that I know you love me too—no matter where we are or who we fight—I will never be lonely again.”

Let us recall: Kurt and Rogue are not related by blood. They did not grow up together. Kurt has a thing for sisters; he almost married his stepsister Amanda. Whom he grew up with. Kurt may need to see a therapist.
