James Gunn:
Could we get a update on our boy Krypto? It's been so long
my good son!!! it's been awhile~ friendly reminder i haven't actually watched supergirl since the beginning of season 3.
x
it ends like this.
kara's smile, wide and bright- it always, always is- as she leaves, closing kara's door with a soft click.
endings shouldn't happen this softly.
(it should be loud and angry and heartbreaking.
things should break. be as shattered as she feels.
it shouldn't be so quiet that the moment passes unnoticed and forgotten.)
(funny how it's still heartbreaking.)
lena dips her head, taking a deep breath. then another. feels her chest fill and her shoulders sag.
there's no relief, if anything, the pressure doubles with every step away from the laughter and games and oh, kara.
(always.
always lies and nervous glances and flimsy lies that hurt more than the pained looks kara gets as she grasps for her next story.
always a luthor. always a kryptonian.)
(there are plenty of always between them but never an always them.)
it ends there. in a dimly lit hallway with the echoes of kara's laughter just behind the door but the lies between them too vast to push through.
it ends with her ignoring kara's calls. her hand hesitates over kara's number to delete and falls away at the last second more than once over the next few weeks.
(it ends with her home feeling colder than it had before kara's warm laugh and caring eyes.
it ends with her stretched across her bed wondering when she began to miss the occasional arm that would slip across her waist.
it ends with her alone.)
x
it's irritating how easily she's become a part of her life. how much they all have.
she misses alex's playful teasing, the occasional shove that threatens to take her off her feat if it wasn't krypto's steady presence backing her up, kara's hands on her shoulders.
she misses winn and james and game nights where kara choosing her meant wins and sweaty palms.
she misses krypto dutifully following behind her throughout l-corp, showing off his ID badge to anyone who will look.
(she misses having to overlook his and kara's more special habits. like their quick appearances or food disappearing off her plate before she can blink.
it was easier when it was second thoughts. odd occurrences. even when she knew.
but she never had to face it, not until lex said it with such surety and cruelty that it cut right through.)
she still gets a message from kara every day. random things she's seen or eaten to lena's disgust.
always keeping the contact there.
(always showing that all it takes is one reply.
that she can always see them, be with them.
that she can always come home.)
(she hates that she's too scared to. even though she knows even a quick okay would more than encourage kara to walk through her door.)
x
it surprises her more than she admits when krypto is the one to burst through her doors.
he barks happily at her and hops onto her couch, protest falling as he cuddles up against the pillows.
and that's that.
he sits there day after day. tail wagging if she pats him on her way in and out of the office. most of the time he dozes, but sometimes, she swears she catches his bright eyes watching her quietly.
(steady and caring.
she needs it more than he knows.)
(or maybe not, because after one particularly hard day, he drops down beside her feet and stays there from then on.)
that's that.
x
until there's a note slid under his collar. glittery stickers slapped all across the poorly folded paper.
kara's terrible handwriting evident from the scrawled lena across it's front.
some days it's merely a greeting. or encouragement. a reminder to eat.
(funny enough, it always appears right when she needs it.)
and then one day-
i miss you.
she holds the paper close to her heart, fingers running at the sides of the paper. shoves it hastily in her pocket with every meeting.
it's so smeared and crumbled by the end of the week that it's almost illegible.
(as if she could forget what it said.)
x
it begins with krypto coming into her office with no note in sight. with a happy trot, krypto bounds over her couch in a way that no dog should and coming to a hard stop right in front of her. her hand falls to his head before she can even think, hooking her fingers under his collar to pull him closer and wrap her arms around him.
it begins with krypto pulling her so sharply she's yanked from her chair. teeth gently close on her sleeve and tug lightly.
"krypto," she starts and sighs as krypto makes another pointed tug. "i can't just-"
krypto pulls, quick and hard, and she's halfway across the room in a second, struggling to push herself up on her hands.
"i suppose i can then."
she tells jess she'll be out for the rest of the day- trips with krypto have a habit of getting out of control far too quickly- and hurries after krypto as he hops around the elevator, throwing his head back and barking anxiously.
she follows him down the floors of l-corp and out into the streets. she follows diligently, and krypto seems more determined than she's ever seen him.
(a few times he wanders just so, nose twitching as he looks with what lena can only describe as longing towards a food truck.
he gives himself a shake and starts again in a set of movements that makes her heart ache with the familiarity of kara.)
she pushes through the crowd. a smile growing on her face at the looks of joy just from seeing krypto. multiple people stop and pat at him, cooing as krypto gives his signature doggy smile.
(it sways her more than she'd like to admit.
the danvers have a way of doing that.)
he leads her to the park- memories of kara and krypto and fetch with such a disgusting ball that it was trying to throw it with each passing attempt. but krypto's eager replacement of his paws and thumping tail spurring her on- and drops to the ground, nipping at the grass.
a sound of overexaggerated footsteps has her turning around. kara blinks and grins. her eyes glance downward and she tries to tamp it down but then the smiles right back into place as she steps closer.
"hi."
"hello." she says it as coolly as she can. Not out of anger. it's been in her too long, and oh, she's missed those blue eyes and bright grins and kara. fights to keep her heart at a normal, because she knows kara can hear it, but kara's head tilts to the side in that telling way of using her superhearing all the same.
"i-." kara stops. fiddles with her fingers, twisting them so tightly that lena wonders if she's capable of breaking them. "i know-." she stops again, biting her lip. "i'm-"
"i've missed you," she blurts. it's earnest and jarring and-
worth it as kara's smile turns blinding.
it begins like this.
it begins with kara taking her hand, kara's thumb swiping against the back of her hand. with kara's voice hushed and low as she tells her of krypton. of krypto. of supergirl.
it begins with kara zor-el.
I watched The Lanterns trailer and it was...really bad. Right? I'm not even a big GL guy but I think we're all agreed on that?
If Gunn just wants to remake Guardians of the Galaxy over and over again, then GL is a good franchise to do that! So why is this set in Random Grungy Town instead of some colorful alien planet? If a CGI-heavy space setting is too expensive, well, you could still put it in Coast City or something.
Why is Hal Jordan a grumpy old man? I can understand if you want him training one of the other GLs, I can understand if you think he's overused and want to focus on someone else, but I feel like this is the worst of all possible choices. At least using Alan Scott would make a little more sense, since he's old, if not grumpy.
This isn't even getting into the changes to the lore, the fact that the trailer only showed two seconds of any powers, the weird brown suit...I'm sorry, I'm just struggling to understand 99% of the choices that they made here.
*whispers* Jack and Krypto meeting
*whispers* i’m love you?? you lovely, lovely anon. i hope headcannons are alright. under the cut
jack first meets krypto at l-corp
by meet, i mean jack almost gets run over because this dog? shoves past him when he opens up the doors to l-corp
which okay, weird
security just lets the dog through? no problem? while jack has to wait in line to go through the metal detector. sure, okay, whatever
kara laughs at him every time. giving a friendly- sarcastic, it’s sarcastic- wave to him as she walks on by with her special access
lena insists they’re not dating. jack insists he be given special access too then
lena says no. gives him that whole one raised eyebrow thing that she must’ve perfected since her moving. kara gives him another jaunty wave
he catches up to the dog though. oddly enough, it almost? looks like they’re going to same way
and oh, that’s not good. because lena, lena has never been good with animals. all gritted teeth, clench hands, and eyes that search desperately for escape
but when he walks into the office, lena is laughing quietly as the dog tries to figure out how to wiggle his way into her chair. almost tips the both of them back
that is how he meets kyrpto. with lena’s eyes crinkling under the force of her smile, her hands pushing at krypto as he clambers up the chair- he can’t tell if she’s actually trying to shove him away, and oh, no, no she’s not
and krypto just watches him curiously until lena introduces them and then he gets an armful of white and fluff and the chair topples back
krypto is almost always, always at l-corp when he visits lena
not to say he’s always with lena though. even if it’s mostly true
sometimes krypto’s lounging in the lobby. a friendly smile- oh lena falls for it every time they eat lunch and krypto shoots that doogy smile- for passerbys to pat
curiously, he finds krypto in the labs one time. his fur all different colors and can a dog pout? because krypto’s pouting.
neither of them discuss that incident
krypto is happiest when he’s with lena and kara. zipping back and forth between the both of them
oh, kara freezes the first time his sub is snatched out of his hands with nothing but a breeze and he immediately glares at her, it wasn’t me
because apparently alien dogs are a thing too. good to know
though the incredibly, amazing, super thing about krypto isn’t his powers. it’s his ability to sway lena with nothing but a blink, his head tilted to the side just enough
it’s finally, finally his time to point and laugh at kara as lena barely gives her a glance as she passes her leftovers to krypto
lena rolls her eyes when kara says she has to keep up her food intake more than krypto. murmurs you’ll live as she presses a quick kiss to kara’s cheek
which? she might not. he’s more than a little concerned when kara sputters for a few minutes
she holds a hand to her cheek the entire elevator ride down. gives him a nervous, little smile that makes him throw an arm around her shoulders and set up lunch plans with her since lena’s busy the next few days
somehow krypto finds a way into his office
he steps in and stills. a sniffing sound behind his desk and- there’s krypto popping up behind it and placing his paws on the desk, tail wagging behind him
he hasn’t allowed anyone to simply hang around his office since biomax
not since the last person who made themselves at home in his space took it over. carved it out, carved him out
it’s nice though. krypto at his feet or sometimes when his neck is aching and no solution in sight, a ball is pressed into his hand
no one questions why he’s throwing a ball down the halls or the huge white dog who scrambles after it
he has to pause every few minutes to text lena yes, krypto’s here or he’s fine
one night, knocks wake him up to lena and krypto and maybe? kara- he thinks it’s her behind a stack of boxes in her hands- at his door
lena’s hesitant. keeps glancing down to krypto and pats his head. so kara steps forward and there’s a mission so we’re both going to be out of town. so are the others. could you?
he’s not sure out of the three of them who’s more distraught
lena looks relieved though at his immediate nodding and we’ll be two bachelors for the weekend, no problem
lena’s hugging krypto while kara drops off the boxes, and oh he thought lena would be the worst one about leaving
but kara’s rattling off step by step what to do
and he remembers how quiet kara’s voice was and he’s from krypton. her eyes soft and loving and sad as they watched krypto roll around in the grass
he makes sure to repeat each instruction back to her until her shoulders are falling and he’s not even prepared for the tight hug she gives him
krypto howls at the door for a good twenty minutes
he tries to quieten him down and they’ll be fine but when that doesn’t work, he sets about putting blankets on the floor for krypto to sleep on
only to find him on his bed two minutes later
which is okay, in a sort of unexpected way but okay. until krypto won’t share the blanket, rolling up in it until he’s got it all and oh, he’s too heavy to move
he huffs and turns over and it’s quiet. until the mass of blankets move as krypto drapes himself over him. wiggling around until he’s comfortable- he wheezes whenever krypto steps on his stomach- and falls asleep
lena has asked him if he’s alright. with everything that happened
he hadn’t exactly lied. but it’s not enough to worry lena with
nightmares happen to everybody. it’s fine
it’s the buzzing in his ears. that hum under his fingertips, and oh, how many people did he kill?
he knows. he knows exactly how many. he knows their birthdays. knows their families. knows that the money they find on their doorstep constantly can never, never make up for what he did
it’s a cold nose against his neck and blinking up to krypto
krypto just whines quietly and presses closer to him. he’s never had the urge for a dog, but krypto? krypto who brings him food and helps keep his mind off work and brings such happiness to lena’s face?
he can’t think of a better friend
eating with krypto is tricky
he brings out all his takeout menus and lays them out. waits until krypto slaps a paw on the one he wants
krypto’s a dog of good taste. though he goes from choosing some high quality restaurant to dragging him to a hot dog stand in one day and jack can’t find a better instance of seeing both lena’s and kara’s influence
there’s not a piece of kale in sight though and he now knows what a relieved look is on a dog
he tries to time it just right. give krypto enough food as he inhales his to avoid krypto begging
it never works. he’s only seen one person eat faster than krypto and kara’s got medals to prove it
it happens the same way every time
he’ll be eating and krypto will pad over to him and
yep there it is. a paw on his leg, krypto blinking strikingly bright blue eyes and
he hasn’t been able to finish a meal since krypto was dropped off
krypto doesn’t sleep the entire night
the first time it happens, he scrambles out searching, because oh god, kara’s going to fling him into space
but krypto’s just always at the long window, staring up at the bright stars
he never knows what to do. so he sets out the pizza they didn’t finish earlier and a bowl of water and lets krypto be
on the last night though, he wakes to texts from lena saying they’re on their way. the words jumbled and switched around the way they always are when lena’s bone tired
he finds them squished together on the couch. kara keeping lena from falling off and krypto sprawled over both of them
he tosses a blanket over them, smoothing a hand down krypto’s head when his ear flicks up
his apartment feels warmer after that. more right. more like a home
a thought: alex taking krypto to go paddleboarding
sun’s first light [3/?]
part one, part two
Krypto’s breaths are heavy against her hand. Warm and slow, she thinks he’s probably fallen asleep again. The street is quiet below. Too late- or early?- for people to be out and about.
The lights are faded out when she looks outside. The city as close to silent as it can get to her.
(She knows loud.
Knows it’s Eliza’s hands that tugged down a blanket over her head, pressed headphones over her ears every day those first few weeks, and then at least once a week after. Jeremiah’s chest warm and solid under her cheek, heart thumping too fast, too fast, but they were trying to help.
Always trying to help.)
I can't speak for anyone else but I'd kill for some non-romantic fic if you're feeling inspired? I love all the love but sometimes my aro ass gets tired. Maybe some one on one Kara bonding with Krypto headcanons? Or anything featuring the Danvers sister just chilling together.
part one, part two, part three
Krypto is right at her face.
She wakes up to blue, blue eyes and a tongue slowly dragged across her cheek. It takes her a few, conflicting seconds to decide whether it’s gross or not before the pure adorableness of it gives way.
“Hey Krypto.” She slides her fingers behind his ears to ease him closer, presses her nose into white fuzz. Laughs at the tiny tail thumping against her chest. “Good morning.”
Alex’s hand slaps clumsily at her shoulder. “Stop being so loud.” Kara grins, reaches over to ruffle a hand through Alex’s hair until her wrist is caught. “Stop.”
Krypto, oh, he’s so excited, stumbles over the sheets, nipping at one when a sheet tangles around one paw. Kara slips it free, and he bolts forward, stepping over every inch of Alex’s back as she tries to wriggle away from his cold nose. “Okay, okay.” Alex rolls over, holds Krypto up, “Hello to you too.” Her eyebrows jump when Krypto slides closer, finding a spot under her chin. “I guess this makes up for being woken up early. Not like I wanted to sleep in after work.”
Kara freezes.
“Oh, oh no.” She throws back the covers, barely remembering to turn around and stop Krypto from leaping off the bed. He squirms in her hands, jumps out as soon as he’s close to the ground. “I’ve got to get to work. Snapper doesn’t seem like the type to allow tardies.”
“You’re not in middle school, Kara.”
She snatches her pillow and throws it at Alex. “Late. Whatever.” Krypto’s paws press against her leg. She scoops him up gently, holds him close to her chest, receives another lick for her troubles. “Are you,” Krypto huffs against her neck when she stops scratching his ear, “are you okay here with him?”
Alex holds out an arm, taking Krypto when she offers him and placing him back on the bed but then she tugs Kara closer, hugs her tight. “We’re fine. Go show Snapper who he’s messing with.”
“Okay, but there’s- there’s food in the kitchen and,” she knots her fingers together, twists. “There’s toys if he gets bored- he will- and his leash is hanging by the door.”
“Kara,” now Alex’s hands are pushing her away, “we’re fine. Go.”
“I’m going, I’m going.”
Kara presses a quick kiss against Krypto’s head and then Alex’s, nudging Krypto away from the edge. “I’ll come home when I get a break.”
Krypto scrambles after her when she steps away, and oh, she shouldn’t be wasting so much time but is it really a waste when he’s looking at her like that? “I’ll be back Krypto.” She smooths a hand down his back, “I promise.”
(She ignores Alex’s concerned look and shrugs on her jacket.)
Krypto stares at her once Kara leaves.
She tugs the covers over her head, but she can still tell he’s there and she bets he’s staring.
“You’re weird.” Krypto nips at her hand, rolls over as he? wrestles with her hand. She’s not really sure. “Cute,” she amends quietly. She jabs a finger in his direction, “Don’t tell anyone that.” It only earns her a tilted head, one ear flopping just so at the tip, and oh, the jerk her heart makes should not happen.
Krypto flops around on the bed, jumps on her foot when she moves it under the covers. “Okay,” she starts, scooping him up and placing him on the floor. “I’m going to sleep, and you,” she lightly taps at his nose, bites her lip to stop the smile from slipping onto her face when he looks down his nose, “you are going to be good, right?”
She gets two minutes before she hears a scraping.
“Krypto,” she calls. It stops. She breathes a relieved sigh, shrugs back under the covers and-
It sounds again.
“Come on.” She rolls out of the bed, eyes squinting when Krypto comes scrambling around the couch. “What are you doing?” He blinks up at her, tail wagging. “Don’t give me that look.”
She- she is a trained agent, and a literal puppy look isn’t going to break her. Even though she’s tempted to just run her hand through his fur, she’s not. She’s not.
She’s lived through Kara’s blue eyes blinking innocently at her and found her fridge empty afterwards. She knows this game. She acts like she’s walking back to the bed, looks over her shoulder once she hears Krypto start padding back around the couch.
Stepping quietly, she peers over the couch as Krypto trots happily over to the coffee table. He walks around it once, twice- bites it. She waits a moment to see if he’ll realize that maybe it’s not the best idea, but nope, he just keeps gnawing on it.
“Why-” Alex picks him up, “Why would you even? It’s wood dude. Don’t do that.”
He squiggles between her hands, darts forward to lick her nose. “That either.” He does it again. She grins despite herself, rubs her face against his stomach and laughs when he puffs against her hair.
(He’s so small.
Kara had moved so slowly around him. Fingers splayed wide whenever she pets him, and arms loose whenever she holds him.
He’s so small and her sister is so worried, and oh does she realize she even speaks quieter around him?)
She wakes up on the couch. She goes to pet Krypto, her hand landing on her own stomach. “Krypto?” She’s fairly sure she fell asleep with a dog on her and now, he’s nowhere.
(Her throat itches, fear pricking up through her chest, makes her hands clench.
He can get hurt. The sun not yet filling the spaces in between his cells, strengthening them.
And if he gets hurt- she thinks of Kara, and oh, they both are making a habit of causing her blood pressure to raise.)
“Krypto,” she calls again, tries to make it stern enough to get an answer but not enough to scare him. “Where are you?” She looks around the room, gets on her knees to look under the table, under the couch.
Krypto barks.
From above her.
She slowly looks up and her jaw drops. Krypto’s paws scramble furiously in the air, barely making headway as he drifts around. He falls a few feet, Alex getting her feet under her to jump in place, but then he’s swooping back up.
“Okay, okay. Just,” she holds out her hand, and oh, no one else has to worry whether or not their superpowered dog is superpowered enough yet to be okay if he falls. She jams her hand into her pocket and fishes out her cellphone, hitting Kara’s number.
“Hey!”
“Kara,” she starts slowly, tries to breathe evenly to slow her racing heart, because if Kara hears it, she’ll worry and won’t think before flying halfway across the city. “Don’t panic-”
“What happened?” Kara sounds the exact opposite of what she asked.
“We’re all fine,” she hurries. “It’s just- can you stop by anytime soon?”
“One sec.”
There are times when she’s still so shocked by Kara and her powers, and when she can tell her sister actually means one second, it’s one of those times. There’s a shift in the air, and then Kara’s in front of her, one arm reaching back to keep her in place. “What’s wrong?” She looks around, “Where’s Krypto?”
Alex reaches around and tips up Kara’s jaw, watching as Kara’s arms go slack to her sides. “He’s-”
“Yeah.”
“Alright then.” Kara’s voice a mixture of concern, but oh, there’s excitement there. Kara floats up and wraps her arms around him, murmuring to him.
(It had taken year after year of practice before she could even make a fraction of the right sounds that flowed from Kara so easily.
But after so long, she had finally thought she was comfortable with Kryptonian. Hearing Kara speak to Krypto though, fast but still smooth, she realizes that maybe Kara had finally just started to accept that it was the best she would hear. Alex’s slow and hesitant speech.
Maybe Kara had accepted that she would be the last true speaker.)
“You fly so well,” Kara coos to him, finger rubbing his belly. Krypto is limp in her grip, tail wagging as he receives all of Kara’s attention, and Alex rolls her eyes. Kara’s grinning brightly, and oh, it settles firmly at her heart.
She clears her throat. “We need to take him to the DEO.” Kara holds him tight to her chest, taking a step back. “Just to make sure everything is okay. J’onn will want an update.”
“It shouldn’t matter to them.”
Alex runs a hand through her hair, tries not to get frustrated. “I know, but they- we,” she stresses, “keep tabs on aliens. If you want him to be here without any trouble, we just need to follow protocol.”
Kara sighs, her shoulders dropping with the force of it. “I know.” She shrugs. “I still don’t like it though.”
“Do you want me to take him?” Kara raises an eyebrow in question. “So you can go back to work,” she clarifies.
“I’m done for the day. I’ve got to write up an interview I did,” Kara mumbles as she places Krypto down to spin back into her regular clothes.
“You got an interview already?” Kara nods, a shy smile that betrays the cool voice she’s trying to keep. “Kara, that’s great.” Pride warms her chest, flows outward as she throws an arm around Kara’s shoulders. “How’d it go?”
“Mm,” Kara fidgets for a moment, stamps her foot down, “good? I think. We’ll talk about it later.” Alex squints at that, eyes the flush crawling up Kara’s throat until Kara clamps her hands over it. She clears her throat. “Let’s just get Krypto taken care of first.”
They try getting Krypto into the carrier, but after one too many bites that don’t hurt- the whines Krypto lets out look like it’s physically hurting Kara- Kara decides just to let him sit at her feet.
Which immediately becomes her lap when he jumps at her knees until she picks him up.
Kara rolls down the window, and oh, it must be a universal given that dogs stick their heads out, because Krypto does it instantly.
It’s such a ridiculous image, Krypto’s little legs stretched out so he can look out the window with Kara smiling right behind him.
Alex loves it.
J’onn stares down at Krypto in her hands. “He flew?”
“Sorta?” She looks to Alex, sees her nod. “It looked more just floating, but he was definitely getting the hang of it.”
“Great,” J’onn replies. She tilts her head, because his tone suggest that it maybe it isn’t so great. “Can he do it by choice or?”
“He stopped when I asked him to come down.” They both glance over their shoulders to her as they walk to the lab. “What? He did.”
She hops up on the table with Krypto in her lap. He’s too small by himself on the table, it feels too sterile. The way he leans into her makes her think he likes it better than when he was shrinking away from the table by himself.
“It’s okay,” she soothes as Alex places wires around them. “Oh.” She reaches into her jacket and pulls out her bagel. Unwrapping it, she breaks off a piece and holds it to Krypto.
J’onn grunts, “I read that they shouldn’t have have certain foods.”
She lets a foolish grin grow, lips curling upwards. “You looked up things for him?” Alex snorts behind her computer until Kara aims a kick at her. “That’s so sweet J’onn.”
He crosses his arms, shifts his weight to the side. “You’re missing the point.”
“He’s got powers now. What can some food hurt?”
“I could have two things after my food now,” Alex quips. Kara kicks her again before she can lean away. Smiles sweetly when J’onn steps between them.
“Girls.”
“Thank you, J’onn.” Before he can go further with his disapproving look, she presses forward. “For looking out for him.” She racks her brain, wondering if she’s doing it right as she presses a fist over her chest. For us, she mouths, tapping her chest.
J’onn’s hand is heavy, but oh, it’s nice at her knee as he pats it. “Zhindif.” He scratches at his jaw, makes a point of looking around the room to avoid her- she’s sure- watery eyes. “What’s the report Danvers?”
“He’s perfectly healthy.” Alex tips her head to the side. “Just he can fly now, at least. He’ll probably start eating more.”
“A plan needs to be made for when you’re at work. As Supergirl or,” J’onn falters, looks to her.
“Reporter,” she supplies.
“Oh.” He nods to himself and then her, “It suits you.”
(Zhindif.
There’s a warmth that slips down her shoulders, leaves her fingertips buzzing at their acceptance, their support. A hand at her shoulder, on her knee. Both of them at her side, she knows she can count on their presences. A laugh and a small smile that’s constantly trying to be hidden away but oh, when she sees it, she feels so, so lucky.
Always.)
i’m sorry, did you hope i was done with these? ha, no. @onceapoet asked for some more krypto headcannons, so part . . i don’t even know anymore
there are two different ways it can go when they take krypto out while it’s raining
sometimes it is met with Refusal
krypto is a proud, proud dog. how dare kara try to take him out, there’s mud
so he does what any dog would do. he plops right down in front of the door when kara tries to urge him out
it’s ridiculous. kara shoving against him and just getting an inch further every time. sometimes krypto will move at the last minute and kara will go through the door
the first time lena came home and the door was destroyed. she just crouched down and peered through the hole to see kara sprawled out in defeat while krypto sat happily on the couch
she doesn’t question it anymore, just orders another one
