KS (Kyarascuro, "chiaroscuro" + "キャラ") is a large-scale crossover AU that incorporates several well-known video game based pieces of web horror/unfiction... Owned by me, Alan, but also co-owned by my friends Noelle (Idi) and Mateo (Equinotix...)
You can read all the KS-based works on AO3 here.
The wiki is still a work in progress!
General TWS for this blog: suicide, kidnapping, violence, abuse, cannibalism, & the police
more info under the cut + tag format/guide + asks n stuff
So what's in this crossover, anyway?
The main web horror works that KS pertains to are:*
*none of these line up 1-1 with their canon counterparts, sort of like an au within an au... which is part of why its so hard to explain
Sonic.EXE (relinquished)
Petscop (pressedyes)
NES GODZILLA CREEPYPASTA (Cosbydaf)
Wii Deleted You (Nuclear Blue)
Blood Whistle (???)
Some other notable works such as BEN Drowned (Act 1 only) are part of it too, but not notable enough to be considered entirely derivative.
How do tags work?
Trigger warnings are "#(blank) tw"
Since KS is a trilogy, each part gets its own tag.
KSR1 = Rancor
KSR2 = Redamancy
KSR3 = Reminiscence
Each character gets its own tag, and the year the original post was made will be tagged too.
Sometimes groups of characters/ships get their own special tags, "#catacombs trio" for example refers to rainer, brendan, and cole (if in the off chance i ever did draw ship art of them the tag would be different because their ship name is different. polycatacombs anyone)
Noncanon art will be tagged. If it's not tagged noncanon, assume that it's canon.
"#wiki media" refers to all wiki contents.
What about asks?
I'm more than happy to answer anything without spoiling anything. Please do not ask me any NSFW questions regarding KS and its characters. It's inappropriate, not what this work is about, and it's also written with the accompaniment of 2 minors
If you want to send an ask without your url attached, just attach that to your question and I'll just quote it. Do not ask me to turn anons on, I don't like anonymous questions and I like doing things the hard way
with the number of banana fish posts you put on my dashboard you are now legally obliged to rant and explain to me why i should watch it. take your time 👉✨
WELL... it's a very well-written, animated, and orchestrated piece of media. Please read its DTDD page first bc from the moment it starts to the second it ends it is an absolutely Tragic story: https://www.doesthedogdie.com/media/15970
That aside, I like it because it explores some themes that not a lot of anime do (like male victims of assault, human trafficking, street gangs) and knows how to intercut comedy with the heavier scenes and plotlines just the right amount. It has a unique style that I didn't like at first but eventually found it suits the show really well. The characters are interesting and I find that there's few that I truly hate, most of them are complex and show a side of humans that most of us can relate to, if even just a little bit.
The most prominent aspect that made me love it is (I guess general spoilers for plot but) the main character Ash deems himself a ruthless monster from the crimes he's committed, sullied by the abuse he has suffered, and unworthy of any love he was denied as a child. Then he meets this guy Eiji by chance, and Eiji, after only learning about how powerful and influential of a gang leader Ash is, treats him so normally. He tries to protect him, he tries to save him, he tries to get Ash to see himself as someone who's worthy of safety and happiness and peace.
i'm reading again n I hadn't noticed this thing in the 1st time: that other people aside sangwoo also imply that bum is ugly,, when sangwoo called him ugly I didn'r take it into account but now that other characrers also implied he's ugly, he might be ugly for real, what do u think ?
Well, I do think Bum is ugly in KS universe…
Maybe not super ugly but I don’t think he’s handsome either.
I think Koogi made a complaint about Korean’s society shallowness with KS (aside from the complain about mental illness stigma in Korean’s society), the complaint was that if a person is not beautiful enough or doesn’t meet that society’s standards, that person is isolated, as in the case of Bum.So in my opinion, Bum must be ugly in KS universe for the plot to work…
Now, I must say that it also depends cuz there are other people who say Bum is not ugly but they happen to be Bum fans so… I’m not sure how objective is that.
Heya folks, so it’s been brought to my attention that Killing Stalking has come to an end. I stopped reading it a while back due to my personal opinions, but some of you might remember me from way back when as someone who did detailed Korean to English translation explanations of the webtoon.
Basically, I’ve heard some controversy about the ending, which may or may not be related to translation stuff, so I’ve decided to open myself up to answering Korean culture / translation questions again.
Also, this offer is open to Korean media at large, not just this one controversial comic. Just please send me specific timestamps, chapters, page numbers, etc. so that I can find the part you mean!
Thank you for not dissing people who like KS. I usually stick to light hearted series so I'm trying to read manga with seriously dark concepts. I've literally had someone tell me that I'm probably dating someone as crazy and abusive as the MC from KS because I reblogged a photo set of him. 😒 I can differentiate what a healthy relationship is from an abusive one. Just because I like a series with a yandere/abusive character doesn't mean Imma go out and find one for myself. 😑
Yeah, see, as I understand it, KS is meant to be psychological horror, right? The whole point of psychological horror is to portray horrible, messed up things. And there’s nothing wrong with enjoying that kind of story, as long as you acknowledge that it’s not in any way healthy. Like, I myself enjoyed Death Note quite a lot, and I really liked Light as a character. But would I want to have anything to do with him irl? Abso-fucking-lutely not. The dude’s a psycho!
It’s the same with series like Hannibal or Breaking Bad.
The fascination comes with seeing the characters spiral towards their inevitable downfall.
So yeah man, while I myself don’t see the appeal, I am totally cool with people liking KS! It’s not my place to judge!
It’s when people start relating it to YOI that the problems start because the two series are absolutely nothing alike, other than the very slight similarities in appearance between the protagonists of each of the series. Equating Victor and Yuuri’s beautiful, healthy romance to the abusive, toxic relationship between Sangwoo and Yoonbum is not only extremely misleading, but also insulting to all the characters involved.
Killing stalking is about a fetishized and abusive relationship and demonized people with bpd . I'm unfollowing you if you support something that disgusting.
i don’t support it in any way, don’t get me wrong. i don’t read ks because i support the things portrayed in it or any of the sort. i read ks because it keeps me on edge, it makes me want to know what happens next. trust me there’s nothing i want more than to see sangwoo locked up in jail and yoonbum getting the help he needs. you have to remember that it’s all fiction, horror fiction while we’re at it. the series is completely fucked up. but just because i read something that portrays relationships as dark as this does not mean i support them in any way, i just enjoy reading a story with twists and events that keeps me, the reader, on edge. if you’d like to unfollow me then that’s alright, i don’t blame you, you have all the right to do so. i just want to make it clear that i do not, in any way, support the actions, relationships or events portrayed in the killing stalking manga.
What make you love Sangwoo? Besides his looks, what's the reason?
Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been not so active around here these days.
Well, because he’s a very complex, multidimentional and well-written character, he’s not like the other classic serial killers, he’s funny, unpredictable and interesting, he never bore me and never will. He’s also so vulnerable on the inside, he may look like a big and strong boy but inside him, he’s just a very fragile and scary boy.
I feel very VERY sorry for him… the only thing he ever wanted was to be loved, but sadly he never, ever got a piece of such craved love, not even from his mom.
Also, his wicked sense of humour is the best! I loved his jokes and sacarstic statements, also when he’s being childish he always makes me go awww 💕 and his quotes… his quotes are the best!
BUT THE ULTIMATE REASON EVER FOR ME TO LIKE HIM FOREVER IS:
HE’S NOT SHALLOW AT ALL.
He has never been. Ever since he was a child, he used to hold Eunbi’s hand, even when the other kids did not want to hold it because of she had a skin condition. Also in his twisted and dark way, he did fall for Bum (read Koogi’s last Q&A if you don’t believe me), despite being straight and Bum being a male because he didn’t care about Bum’s appearance as long as they were together.
And tbh I didn’t find his looks hot at the beginning, I started to find him hot as I grew to like him as a character.
Hello! I've been wanting to ask you, do you think there was a way of "saving" Sangwoo? Like, how? I hope you are doing good, you are one of my favorite blogs! 😊
Hi there! 😊
Well in my opinion, Sangwoo could have been saved in the past, like if there had been someone by his side supporting him while his mother was abusing him or even after she died, maybe he could have been able to overcome his trauma… sometimes it’s easier to do it if people notice they’re not alone, but Sangwoo was totally alone, no real friend, no people who truly cared about him and in a society like the Korean one with such stigma about mental illness, it would have been difficult for him to recognize by his own what his mother did to him, that his mother had been manipulating him all this time, that he was not guilty of his father’s death, that he was starting to need help and so on.
Now if you mean if Sangwoo could have been saved as an adult… then I don’t think so. Adult Sangwoo is sadly way too broken to be repared, it’s like he has passed the point of no return… And we have seen it. We have seen that despite being straight, Sangwoo wasn’t able to have a relationship with a girl because of his trauma, we have also seen how hard he tried to make things work with Bum, to separate him from his trauma and look what it happened at the end… it didn’t work. It’s sad but this kind of traumas are not easily overcome.
The only way I can think for adult Sangwoo to be saved is that he somehow loses his memory and forgets EVERYTHING about his past, included his trauma so that he could start from zero in another place, maybe in a far far away country far from everthing about his past… But welp, maybe that’s just me imagining a better future for him T^T
And btw, thank you so much for your good wishes and your support 💕 even when I haven’t been so active lately since the fandom is almost ded T^T <\3
