The sliver of light hitting the leaves of the tree made their green color so vibrant, like it was popping out of darkness in defiance of the missing sunlight. It broke Siyu from his train of thought for a few moments. He sat there in the grass patch, just staring up at that bright green and wondering how his life got to this point. It wasn’t necessarily a bad place, but very different from how things were barely five years ago. Back then things had been shit, but at least he had Lihwa.

Rolls of tears dripped down from his eyes, running along his face and down his neck into the soft cotton of his purple shirt. One of his hands were clenched tightly around an empty bottle of fruit loop vodka and the other was fisted in his shirt. Normally Siyu wasn’t the kind to just down half a bottle of vodka alone late at night (while already quite stoned), but today was a special occasion. A ghost of a smile crossed over his trembling lips, cold and very different from his usual bright grin. He lifted the bottle up to his lips for another drink, but when nothing came out he made a disgruntled noise and threw it weakly beside him. 

He curled in on himself and tried to stop his body from freaking out, but Siyu had no control over himself anymore. His limbs shook violently as soft noises of pain crawled up his throat, only barely muffled by his closed mouth. He probably had snot and tears all over his face, but he didn’t care. All he could think about was Lihwa. Her face. Her smile. The stupid way she used to sing songs terribly with him when their parents were out of the house. The reassurances that she was fine. All of the times he caught her crying alone. The images kept coming and they wouldn’t stop. 

“God dammit, leave me alone!” He whimpered and rubbed at the never ending tears that clouded his vision. Why did this still hurt? After all this time?

Ryosuke could admit that maybe their PDA were a little too much; teasing each other when they could, maintaining physical contact even outside the privacy of Joon’s room, and the kissing. Oh, the kissing. The last relationship he had, he was so careful not to taint Hyuksoo’s image that he had been busy overthinking things. But with Joon now, he could let himself go and do what he wanted. Kissing—making out—in public was a regular occurrence for them and frankly, he didn’t care if Keisung students were grossed out; it wasn’t as if they were looking away from them either.

They had been making out in the corridors again before separating as Joon had to get to his class. With a last kiss and a promise spending the night at the rebel’s dorm again, they went on their separate ways. When his boyfriend had gone, he went the opposite way and planned on getting lunch, the wide smile still on his red, swollen lips. He was so distracted that he had accidentally bumped into someone in the corridor, walking without looking where he was going. “Oh, sorry, I was—” The sight before him had him stopping, and he briefly wondered if he was dreaming. The person in front of him was someone he didn’t expect to see in Keisung again.
