“if you insist,” suki mumbled from the other side of the tree. a small smile played on her lips as she rested her head against the trunk, staring at her legs splayed out before her. siyu had been too absorbed in his own misery to even sense when she had walked past him, and something about that had caused her to stay back to observe him. even then siyu had barely comprehended her presence; it was clear that he was in a world of his own.
“i’m joking,” suki added for clarification, adjusting herself so that she was closer to the leader of the stoners. “i know you weren’t talking to me. but seriously, i’ve been sitting here for a while.” she studied the canopy of leaves above them. from her peripheral vision she could see siyu’s shoulders shaking, and with a sigh she dug into her pocket, pulling out a package of tissues.
“i know we’re not really friends or whatever, but i’m here if you want to talk,” suki told him lamely. she glanced at the empty bottle in his hands, raising a brow curiously. “and it’s pretty obvious that you’re wasted, so i’m not about to leave you by yourself. come on, just talk to me. i’m curious about what has the great leader of the stoners looking so pitiful.”
At first he thought the voice was just in his head (it wouldn’t be the first time), but then it kept going and Siyu realized that it was coming from beside him. He lifted up his head from his knees and looked over to see who was sitting there. The tears still blurred his vision, so it took him a while, about a minute of staring blankly, to realize that the person beside him was actually Suki.
If this was any other time, Siyu would just brush off his pain and act like it was nothing. Why bring anyone else into his problems right? But right now he was way too drunk to hold back his feelings. His pain felt like a giant hole inside of him, the memory of his sister slowly eating away at him until there was nothing left. “Fuckk.” He slurred as he scooted closer to Suki, resting his head on her shoulder and putting an arm around her. Touching another person made him feel more grounded, and it was like this that he just broke completely.
His lips trembled so it made it a bit hard for him talk, that and the sobs that kept escaping his mouth, but eventually he was able to form actual words. “Today is a very s-special day, didn’t you know?” A hysterical laugh bubbled up in his throat, “Five years ago today, exactly. Time flies doesn’t it.” He paused as another wave of tears hit him. He tried to breath in and out, but his stupid body wasn’t cooperating with his brain. “I lost my sister.” He whispered between gasps. His face morphed in pain and he nuzzled his head closer to Suki.
