okay please don't hate me but that post that was floating around a while ago about sweeney finally calling laura her first name.... this is how it would happen. him dying. again. he would say it. FUCK.
What the--? Why are you DOING THIS.
I’ve always loved the idea of him calling her by her name in an effort to keep her from leaving his ass (*ahem* like at any juncture during that “morning after” scene would’ve sufficed), but him leaving this world with her name on her lips would seal the REAL DEAL for me. That his last breath would be the murmur of “Laura” from his lips, like he’s calling out to her, kinda delirious-like, so she can be the last thing he sees before he can’t anymore...girl, send me to the afterlife!
As for Laura, I’ve always pictured her saying his name in a softer, less dramatic sense? Like her placating him or soothing him in some way that would really get his attention. Or, when they’re...y’know...making the beast with two backs, and of course, it would just slip out, totally unfettered. And she would spend the next day desperately trying to convince him she actually said something else. And Sweeney would nod and accept her headcanon even though he knows he’s effectively brought her to her knees, metaphorically-speaking, and then he’ll spend the whole week whistling some jaunty Irish tune while Laura glowers in the passenger seat before eventually coming around to thinking it’s not so bad after all. And then she does it again...and again...
