My brain: Sun and Moon has two protagonists - Ash and Kukui. For Ash his journey is refinding that love and joy for both bonding with Pokemon and battling along with them. For Kukui it's wandering the deep waters that is parenting for the first time, finding love in Burnett, and finally accomplishing his dream of a Pokemon League in Alola.
Kukui, talking to Olivia: Okay so I got kicked out of the house by my girlfriend (Burnet), because, she’s on her monthly thing, right? and so like, I hug her, because she asked for one, and then trying to be funny, I squeezed her in the hug and called her ‘my little ketchup packet’ and i feel really bad because she started crying. Olivia: Kukui, I love you like a brother, but what the actual living fuck.
Ash and Professor Kukui’s Exhibition Match
So, judging by the scoreboard when Ash's Lycanroc and Professor Kukui's Incineroar battle each other, Professor Kukui has lost one Pokemon and Ash has lost two Pokemon. Unless the Ash and only lost one and the other darkened Poke Balls symbolise a Pokemon that is being used. A Poke Ball being darkened doesn’t mean it can still be used, because when a Pokemon is recalled, despite still being able to battle, it’s Poke Ball or image doesn’t go dark. Also, as this image shows, Ash's sixth slot is yellow. I don't think it means a Pokemon is paralysed, because if it has been used and recalled, it wouldn't be last on the list, unless Ash has sent out every Pokemon in his party so far, which I doubt.
