Kulans By: AMNH From: The Empire of Equus 1974
Turkmenian Kulan Ever heard of a wild ass that outruns jeeps and survives in places where even camels complain? Meet the Turkmenian kulan, a desert daredevil with a name that sounds like a punchline but belongs to one of Central Asia’s toughest mammals. With serious speed, serious stamina, and zero interest in being tamed, this wild ass is a master of dry-land survival—and yes, "kulan" really does mean wild ass in Turkic.

hmm... not to be controversial but Wylan/Kuwei... is a good pairing
Here is an old Kazakh cartoon depicting the Kazakh legend of Aksak Kulan. In the legend, Jochi is killed while hunting Kulan (wild asses/onagers). Chinggis Khan learns of his son's death from a musician who in some versions, does such a beautiful job Chinggis lets him ho free. Alternative versions include the fellow's instrument being destroyed so he can never replay the song, or the man is filled with molten lead.
We will be looking at Jochi's death in an upcoming video, and what the sources say on the matter.
