Question: do you have any theory as to why Agni looked so horrified when he saw the picture of Ciel and Twin? I mean, they knew Ciel’s family had died. Obviously this was before the attack. There was no reason to be scared. Shocked, sad, yeah. But scared? Nah. I don’t get why he looked like that, hahaha. XD

I personally read Agni’s reaction as shock/astonishment, over fright or horror?

As in, he just suddenly realized that what he took for embarrassment back when Pitt showed the photo…

…was in fact our!Ciel trying to hide he had a twin brother. 

I’m pretty sure Agni didn’t understand why Ciel would want to hide this fact but, since Ciel never uttered a word about his family, aside from knowing that his parents died, Soma and Agni had no idea about him also losing a twin brother…

which might explain Agni being shocked upon finding out. And in my opinion, that’s also why…

…Agni gave the pieces to Soma just before dying, probably hoping that Soma would realize that the guy who almost killed him was actually not his friend, but his twin brother.

That’s my take on it so far :3 I don’t think the photo held anything but the twins holding hands, which is why I think Agni was possibly shocked by just this discovery. :) I might be wrong though, as always!

So is there a connection between the image between Anne’s memory photo, and the one in the fire?

So I just remembered something from a while back ago, and I managed to find it when seeking out Rachel Phantomhive. 

So this is the photo from the fire place, flipped upright so details can be seen better. 

So shirt’s a bit different then it is in the following photo, but it’s for comparison sake. If you notice though, we have a burnt off image of Vincent too. The weird thing about this is that in a normal picture from that time you would have the whole family. So why is it that we only get Vincent in this case. Where is Rachel at all in this? 

So If you notice, we have the same set up as the picture above, Vincent’s even wearing the same outfit. The only differences are in Ciel, who’s outfit has changed (and I’m not sure if that’s because Yana decided to change his outfit, or something else), but this is pretty much the same pose minus where the hand is. 

So if Ann is a mostly reliable narrator, as she was for the most part, save for the whole killing thing, why would she not implicate a second child in this memory? This is clearly a picture that was being taken as they are set up in such a way for a photo to be shot.  Thoughts?

Hey ^^. I've seen the spoiler, and i'm really confused now. According to the spoiler someone arrives, soma opens the door and gets shot. Soma even speaks such line as "If you don't hurry up, I'll have the desserts all by myself", "You don't look well, is something wrong?", I mean he must be talking to ciel, at least he thinks so. But the carriage looks different, besides, i don't think Ciel wants to kill Soma. So Is it the twin? By the way, I can't see the twin's purpose in killing Soma

Hey Anon :) A translation got out by now so I hope you read the new chapter before reading my response. To answer your question, basically I agree with @akumadeenglish‘s post:

Seeing Soma’s reaction, it’s someone he has met before

but at the same time I really doubt it’s our!Ciel because Soma’s reaction was more lukewarm compared to how he generally reacts to Ciel (even if the last time we saw Ciel & Seb, Seb said they were going back to the house). 

Of course there are other possibilities at this point, but since it feels like the more we get into this arc the less things we speculated on make sense, personally I’m trying to avoid crack theorizing too much and so I’ll bet on the twin (probably Lord Sirius) for now. :)

As for what’s the purpose of the twin (if that’s him) for trying to kill Soma, well, that’s just my opinion but…

If we say that somehow Ciel sacrificed his twin 4 years ago(even if I don’t know exactly how that happened), which is why Seb appeared in the first place, if the twin survived/became a BD and was told/remembered about what happened, maybe he decided to take revenge on Ciel because of what happened 4 years ago and of Ciel taking his identity?

A revenge that would include:

shooting Soma, because he is Ciel’s “friend” even if Ciel doesn’t agree on that

but also taking Lizzie away from him (through emotional manipulation because she is probably very pained and confused)

all that in order to hurt our!Ciel.

I mean, some readers will never agree on that, but I think Soma’s words in the new chapter about Ciel are spot on:

Ciel already lost his parents (and twin) 4 years ago + Ann a year ago now, so take away the few people Ciel actually still cares about (Lizzie mostly, but maybe Soma to some extent as well, since they’ve known each other for a year now) and it would be easy to hurt him, no matter how much he pretends not to care at all. 

That’s how I see it for now anyway so I hope it’s understandable and I’m sorry if it’s not, since there are still a lot of things I can’t be sure about (namely UT’s role in all this, I’m just not sure of anything anymore).

Hey Anon! And I guess it’s different for everyone, depending on what you’re skeptical/didn’t like about the 2CT? When I see how the more we get into this arc the less we can be sure of anything, I think it’s sure that Yana actually planned it long ago so that it would supposedly make sense, so I’m giving her a chance to convince me until this arc is over. :)

Personally, even if I don’t like the hidden twin trope (simply because it’s not my fav option when it comes to fiction), I’ll be more or less okay with the 2CT as long as:

the main plot, current arc and future arcs still make sense storytelling-wise 

the twin creates drama because he’s supposed to be a villain and not a poor little angel who just was a victim all along (seeing as he possibly just shot Soma/Agni tho, I’m not so worried about that point xD)

the characters (namely Lizzie and UT) still make sense with everything that we learnt about them so far, UT being the one I’m the most worried about recently (since I’m not sure anymore of where he fits in the current arc).

That’s what I’m asking of Kuroshitsuji in general anyway, so it’s not just because the 2CT is becoming canon, even if I might become a bit more intransigent about character developments in the future (because the cast is the main reason I like Kuroshitsuji as much as I do).

Here’s the (unexpected) summary for the new chapter:

While Ciel and Sebastian stay on the trail of Blavat, Agni is determined to coax his prince home to sunnier climes back at Phantomhive Manor. Soma's reaction to the proposal proves a surprise, but the surprise awaiting the pair on the other side of the front door is still greater...and threatens to tear master and servant apart!

The chapter is going to have 26 pages, but since we have some time before the release of the translation (Monday 20th for Yen Press) and I really didn’t expect the focus to shift to Soma and Agni, I’m proposing to anyone who’s interested to write down their bet about “what’s awaiting [Soma and Agni] on the other side of the front door”!

I’m starting with my cracky ideas, feel free to add yours through a comment or a reblog!

I know this may sound stupid or something, and I'll guess you'll disagree with me in some way. But in my opinion, if Undertaker were to really help Ciel's twin get revenge on our sweet lil's brat Ciel, I think I'd lose some of the "respect" for him, and Idk how I should feel about him then. I mean, him not caring about random people dying is one thing, but if he went out of his way to help RCiel, to get revenge by helping him killing Soma/Agni, I don't think I could be that fond of him anymore.

Hey Anon and that’s totally okay, no matter if I agree or not, you’re free to have your own opinion. :) However, that’s kinda funny because I really don’t disagree with you there anyway. xD

Basically, I meant every word I said on that post (to the second Anon) about hoping that the 2CT becoming canon won’t debunk some characterizations, namely Lizzie’s and UT’s, knowing that I wrote my worst case scenario for the two of them (so everything that I don’t want to see) here.

If I have to be honest, I’m not so worried about Lizzie as I explained already [x] unless Yana really intends on writing her as shallow, but I’m a bit more scared about UT’s character, seeing as it’s really hard to see where he even fits in the arc so far. 

Simply, after the last chapter, I can’t be sure of anything anymore. After all, if we look at what we were told about UT’s character, namely:

that he has a strong and emotional link to Ciel’s family, probably because of Claudia initially

that he cared about Vincent a lot

+ that he more or less showed that he cared his own way about our! Ciel [x]

and that he doesn’t really seem to like the contract to Sebastian, even if Seb makes for a good protector for the time being

…it seems completely OOC for him (imo) to just help the Twin in his possible revenge against our!Ciel (taking Lizzie away from him + trying to kill Soma) when he says things like…

So really, seeing as they’re both Vincent’s son, I don’t see why UT would favor any of the twins in particular and I understand even less why he’d purposedly help the Twin get his revenge over his brother when said brother is already endangered by a demonic contract.

…Unless UT is trying to teach our!Ciel a lesson because, by taking Lizzie away and hurting Soma (one of the few friends Ciel has even if he doesn’t refer to him as such), he wants our!Ciel to realize that revenge isn’t the only thing he cares about in his life…

…which could lead later to Ciel possibly reflecting about all the choices he made so far (like the contract to Seb for example, if his character development goes down this road), but even with this idea, it means that UT is basically using the Twin which… doesn’t really make sense either, if we supposedly understood that UT liked the entire Phantomhive family enough to try helping them so that they wouldn’t all suffer from the same painful fate.  

Basically, UT wanting to bring back the twin makes sense since he’s a Phantomhive, but UT helping the twin attack his brother (even if just indirectly for now)? That doesn’t seem right (to me) with what we know of UT’s character and I certainly don’t want this scenario to happen (even if it’s for the theory that UT is actually using the Twin to make our!Ciel realize that selling his soul wasn’t the best deal he ever made). 

TL;DR I’m hoping that this arc won’t become some sort of Twin & UT vs Ciel & Seb conflict because it wouldn’t make sense with UT’s character, no matter how desperate he surely is, and I really don’t want this to happen. ;_;I’m also hoping Yana won’t let me down on that aspect, so that I will still be able to enjoy Kuroshitsuji’s plot and cast but yeah, I’m definitely worried for the moment because I can’t really get a good grip on where UT fits in this arc for now. :/

Not so much a Speculation as something I noticed in Chapter 126 and Chapter 117: Lizzy has on black gloves

So again I’m not theorizing here, but there’s been only a hand full of people that have worn black gloves. 

The Reapers each have a pair on at all times, save Undertaker who doesn’t wear them it seems. 

Ciel wears black gloves but that’s only when he’s traveling, and even then you don’t see them frequently. 

And now we have Lizzy wearing Black gloves in normal clothing when at the the Blue Cult’s back room. 

So while I know that the twin Ciel theory is what a lot of people are pointing to, but I just find it odd that we’re specifically shown Lizzy’s gloved hands so much in Chapter 117, the rest of the time we see her in her pjs, which to me means that she only puts those on for a reason.  So I”m wondering if, the shooter is Lizzy or maybe a female rather then the twin. Just an option to consider.  Also am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that the photo that Agni found only seems to have Vincent in the shot and no Rachel.

Hey Anon :) Aaaah, I can’t say for sure right now, sorry. :/

Pros of Soma’s survival:

Soma has been a recurring character ever since vol4 and with what he understands about Ciel’s character, he’s important because he can help Ciel’s development.

Agni might have been just in time to protect him from that bullet and somehow I think Agni could survive this.

What are we supposed to do with the other member of the Agni/Soma duo if one of them dies now?

if Agni actually protected Soma and ends up dying, what will Soma do?

if Soma actually dies, what will Agni do? Get crazy? And then what?

Sieglinde saved Wolfram’s life by taking the bullet out so, maybe she’ll be able to save Soma if he really ends up being shot? 

Besides Lizzie and Soma (Sieglinde is still too new) Ciel doesn’t have so many allies who are really looking out for him to the point of even forgiving him for his bad deeds, so keeping Soma alive might be more interesting thank killing him, characterization-wise.

If Yana kept Wolfram alive, justice would be that she doesn’t kill Soma.

Cons:

the gun to Soma’s head tho’ :/

we haven’t had any recurring/significant character death ever since basically the circus arc (since a lot of fans had grown fond of Joker and his pals), so if we’re supposed to go really dark again with this arc, Yana could make her readers sad on purpose by killing one of the recurring characters.

while Lizzie is definitely more valuable to Ciel’s character development alive than dead, Soma’s death could still trigger a “positive” development for Ciel’s character (since Ciel is always harsher on Soma than he is on Lizzie). It could be like Abberline’s death in S1 if I were to make a comparison.

since Yana seems to have trouble managing a big cast of characters (it’s a fact, not a criticism), killing either Soma or Agni would reduce the main cast while giving a more tragic vibe to Kuroshitsuji. 

Sorry again Anon :/ I really can’t make up my mind for the moment… We might get a better pronostic with what the next chapter will reveal. It’s all very flippant if you ask me, that’s why I kinda like this chapter actually, it moved me.

Hey Anon! Sorry, maybe I’m misunderstanding, but there is nothing telling you that Soma thought it was Ciel, on the contrary?

So the twin wouldn’t wear an eyepatch yes, but you know, it’s also possible that the twin might not look like Ciel so much anymore? That would explain why Soma might not have reacted too much in the first place, even if it seems it wasn’t the first time he and the mysterious person met. I mean, if we say that the twin is lord Sirius then…

Look at Sirius’ arms, there is clealy something wrong with them so maybe Ciel and his twin don’t look so similar anymore? After all, the twin supposedly died and his body should have even burnt so… maybe Soma just didn’t realize that (if it’s the twin) he’s related to Ciel. 

We’re still missing some clues to really figure the whole situation out but I really think that:

it’s the twin

Soma doesn’t know who he really is (they might have met randomly from Soma’s point of view while it was the Twin’s plan all alone to use Soma’s friendly attitude to get closer to him)

Soma probably doesn’t even know he’s related to Ciel

These are my thoughts so far, I hope it makes sense!

Aaah, Anon…! :3 Nah, I really don’t think it’s Maurice or anyone from Weston or even Lizzie, sorry to disappoint you. 

At this point, since we’re 20+ chapters into this arc, whoever it is gotta have a real link with the current subplot and with the Blue Sect and Soma being shot has to be related to the current subplot as well so… nah, for me the real likely possibility is the Twin. Not that it has to convince you, especially if you don’t like the 2CT, I can understand. :3

Again, my thoughts are here and for now they didn’t change.

Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler Question: The word Pal

So I’ve been digging, trying to find anything in regards to any character that has used the word Pal, before, and, let’s face it, most of the upper crust characters only use the word friend. 

I even looked at Undertaker to see if I could find him using the word Pal, but nothing came up. 

So that made me pause and wonder something. The person visiting Soma, the one that he recognizes, could this person not be a upper crust person but rather someone who has a lower vocabulary? Even with Cheslock, who has a more gruff sounding tone, there’s a more worldly vernacular. 

So that made me think back to the circus and the likes of people like that. Now I’m wondering, who would Soma recognize and let in, and what also sprang to mind was the kids that pick up food from him and Agni. Because, let’s be honest here, even if it is a twin I doubt he would use the word Pal as Undertaker doesn’t use that word either. 

So who does that leave?
