Hints of Ciel having a twin in the Akuma 6 bonus chapter
this is OLD but something rly interesting i found when looking at the kuro wiki article for the akuma 6 bonus chapter
so i was like hmmm what could she have been hinting at in that chapter? i read the chapter in english, found like 1 or 2 small things, but when i read it again in japanese, i found a small detail which is actually HUGE. so in the end of the chapter, vincent, acting as the narrator for the chapter, says in the english translation:
which isnt particular off putting. but if you read it in japanese, it can be interpreted in an ENTIRELY new way. the original sentence says:
貴方達はどうか私の息子達の行く末を見守ってやってほしい
in japanese, there is often no distinction between singular and plural the exact way there is in english, but one way to differentiate between one person or several people, is the suffix 達 (tachi). and in this sentence tachi is used twice. first, in 貴方達 (anata tachi) (you all) to address the readers, and secondly after the word 息子 (musuko) WHICH MEANS SON.
SO ONE WAY OF TRANSLATING THIS COULD BE:
"if you'd please, i'd like you all watch over the fate of my sons."
SONS. AS IN MORE THAN ONE. given that this was published right before blue cult arc began, i do believe this was the "anticipatory hint" editor k was talking about. this however was a hint that was unfortunately lost in translation, since in japanese 息子達 does mean the plural of son, it also can be interpreted to mean the people around someone, which can change the meaning to from "multiple X's" to "X and the others", so technically the initial translation is not wrong, but differently interpreted based on the information that was available at the time.
