How do they react, when they get accidentally scared/spooked.
(You know like opening a door and there was someone right there, or someone coming up from behind them when deep in thought, so they scare them out whatever they're doing)
👻 Spooks! 👻
Nightmare
He doesn't spook easy, but when he does he may flinch, and his magic will flare up. Nightmare reflexively uses his magic in case he needs to defend himself, so you might see a flicker of moving shadows for a split second. He recovers pretty quickly.
Dream
He yelps in surprise and then laughs. He's not particularly jumpy, but sometimes things will get him. If Cross is next to him, he'll have jumped into Cross for safety.
Killer
Careful if you spook this boi, he's liable to throw a knife at whatever spooked him! He's another hard one to spook, but it happens! He doesn't always throw a knife at what startled him, but it's a risk, that's for sure.
Cross
Cross jumps and his hand will go to his weapon. He has to be ready in case it's something that wants to harm Dream. When he sees it's not a threat he relaxes and might scratch the back of his skull, slightly embarrassed for going for his weapon first.
Error
He startles pretty bad, and if it's a person that started him, you can be sure they're tied up in his strings. He doesn't apologize, and blames them for startling him.
Ink
He might jump, but he immediately starts laughing. He thinks it's funny! He'll probably joke about it later.
Dust
He's a combination of Cross and Killer. Dust always has a knife on him somewhere, and depending on what started him, it might have a knife thrown at it or he might just grab for it. He blames whatever startled him for it too. If it's a person, he might apologize depending on who it is.
Horror
Don't startle the baby pls... Poor dear would immediately swing an axe at whatever startled him. Horror has a very highly active fight or flight response, and 9 times out of 10, he'll choose fight. If he for some reason couldn't swing the axe, he might even use his magic, and this poor boi doesn't have a lot to spare.
He's tense for a good few minutes after being startled too. Horror takes a while to calm down.
Who catches the bugs and releases it, who squished it, and who is to scared to do anything. .and how would to go about it (like catch with glass? Or hands? Smack it with shoe. Or book ect)
Aw this is cute XD
Catch and Release: Dream, Nightmare, Horror, Ink
Squish: Killer, Error, Cross, Dust
Too scared: Blue
More details under the cut!
Catch and Release
Dream
Dream will find a piece of paper or a glass to catch the bug to let it outside. Dream believes every life has a purpose. He'll stop Cross from killing a bug to save it. He does get nervous around some bugs, but for the most part he'll try to save all of them.
Nightmare
Nightmare doesn't particularly care if someone squishes a bug, but if it's his choice he will catch it and take it outside. He'll usually use his hand to do it, he's not scared of the tiny creatures, and he's read so many books on creatures that he likely knows exactly what bug it is.
He's spent time telling Killer random facts about a particular bug he found in his office while he was busy getting it outside. Killer thought it was quite endearing.
Ink
Ink is more of the kind to catch it and keep it around for a while. He names it, runs around to introduce it to his friends, shows it his paintings, and talks to it for the whole day. Then he promptly forgets about it and the bug releases itself.
If someone asks him about the bug, he'll ask "What bug?" So long Clark, you were a good friend for the day.
Horror
Horror is more similar to Ink actually. He'll let the bug crawl onto his hand and just watch it. It's interesting. Look at it go, just trying to survive and live to the next day. Horror can relate to you, little bug. He keeps it with him for a while. He's also given it a nickname, and he goes to the library to ask if there is a book with his new friend in it.
Horror is going to release him of course, but not before he knows where to do it. What if it likes trees more than dirt? What kind of food does it eat? Horror doesn't want it hungry. He's attached to the dear, and he gets a little sad when he has to release it.
Squishes it
Killer
Killer will squish it if it bother's him, but for the most part he'll leave it alone. Since Nightmare seems to know a lot about bugs, He'll probably take it to Nightmare to ask about it if it looks interesting enough.
Cross
Cross... isn't a big fan of bugs. They creep him out, so he's not too eager to keep them around. If it's a friendly looking bug, like a butterfly or ladybug, he'll catch and release it, but others he'll just squish.
Error
Error doesn't like bugs. It's in his space, it needs to get out of his space, and if it won't do it on it's own, he'll do it for them.
Dust
He doesn't care. He'll leave it alone honestly. If he has to he'll squish it, or if it's annoying or in his space, but otherwise he doesn't care. It's a bug, so what?
Too scared
Blue
Look, even the Great and Valiant Blue has fears! It's perfectly normal to be afraid of things! But the implication that he, Blue, Captain of the Guardsmen, is at all in any way afraid of a creature less than a fraction of his size, is ridiculous!
He's on this stool purely for... Observation! Yes... Observation. No he will not be coming down until the bug is removed.
14. Are they a simple person to please or difficult? For the main 4 +Error and Ink
Nightmare
He's difficult to please in that he doesn't like random people trying to flatter him. He won't accept gifts from strangers at all. If your attempts to please him are from a place of genuine care, it'll eventually get through to him!
Dream
He's easy to please. He appreciates the kindness anyone would have to be able to give to others, but he'd insist you don't need to do anything special!
Cross
Cross is very easy to please. He's happy anyone would think to do something nice for him! He might get overwhelmed if you go overboard though.
Killer
I'd say he's also easy to please. Killer might be suspicious of you being nice to him, but he's not gonna refuse any gifts or anything. When he sees you're just being nice, he'll be happy.
Error
Difficult. Error doesn't like people very much, and is very picky about pretty much everything. He'll offer a polite thank you for any gifts, but it's hard to do something that makes him genuinely happy.
Ink
Easy, it's honestly hard to find something Ink dislikes. He is very appreciative of any attention you give, and soaks it up like a sponge.
38: Nightmare, Killer, Dream, Cross, Error, and Ink?
38. How does your character unwind after a long day?
Nightmare
Nightmare will relax in his room with a good book and a warm drink, typically with Killer's company. If it was particularly stressful, Killer will offer a massage, and Nightmare won't refuse.
Killer
If he doesn't need to be by Nightmare's side, he'll go relieve stress through training. Otherwise he'll go through his normal routine. Listening to Nightmare read to him is a great de-stressor anyway.
Dream
He'll ask Cross to take him to their old meeting place. Fond memories and Cross' company always make him feel better. If that's not an option, he'll go to Cross' room and cuddle.
Cross
If he doesn't need to be with Dream, he'll go horse riding. He loves the feeling of the wind and the way the scenery passes by as he rides. He'll go faster than normal, urging his horse along a path with obstacles too.
Error
He'll sit in his room and knit, with some music playing in the background. If he needs to get away from the castle, he'll go to Geno's library to talk, or just to hang out.
Ink
Ink will paint! Painting always helps him soothe his nerves. He also might go out to a café in the town. If none of that is available, he'll go find Error. If it's been a particularly bad day, he might not even be all that energetic. Error usually brings his spirits back up pretty quickly.
Did dust and horror had arguements? What about and how did they make up if they did?
I want to know more fluffy friendship fluff lore of dust and horror if u have? Pleeeaseeee<333
And.. Also... Some more lore about error and ink! >w< pretty please~~~ <33333333
(Do u remember about that lil idea with killer finding an hurt animal or faery and befriending them as he tended to it - which leaded to kinda making it killers pet or something as it won't leaves killers side... 🤭 ANYWAY i just thought... What if -in one way or another- error found out about killers lil friend and secretly sent killer (cuz he likes animals and maybe faerys too and just has such a sweet Kind soul) some knitted clothes or accessoire like a scarf, cape, idk... something to them?? I would find that soo adorable aaaaa >w< 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕)
Aww that idea is super sweet! Error would absolutely knit something for a pet to wear, if Killer did indeed end up getting one (Which he might, I'm starting to get attached to the idea >w<). Error would find some way to sneak the little gift into Killer's room. Error is certainly one of the animal lovers of the cast.
Dust and Horror don't really argue, but Horror will get on Dust's case if he thinks he's been neglecting his health in favor of work! Dust has a habit of getting waayyy too lost in his work. If Dust refuses to listen to Horror's reminders, Horror will basically kidnap Dust so he can take care of him. He gives Dust three days to get himself back on track before he'll just come into Dust's workspace and just pick him up, sling him over his shoulder and take him to his house.
Dust gets a big meal that night and isn't allowed to leave until he agrees to tone back his work. He's only ever gone back on his word once, and Horror was none to happy with him then. Dust doesn't recommend pissing off Horror.
More Error and Ink hm? Oh, I got something!
One time, for Ink's birthday, Error actually painted him something! Ink had been trying to get Error to paint for so long, and Error refused because he hates getting messy, so it was a huge surprise to Ink. It wasn't anything beautiful, but it was a painting! From Error! It was a butterfly in all sorts of colors, and Ink loved it!
Ink keeps it in his office, displayed proudly for anyone to see. Error hates it. Error has only agreed to paint with Ink a couple more times since then. He really hates getting messy.
Okay, I got a fun one for mmn let's say, error, ink, edge, red, nightmare and dream.
Shoot, their clothing just made a ripping sound, and part of their clothing is about to fall completely off...how will they react to solve this
Oop, ripped clothes!
Error
Error groans in frustration. He finds where the rip is and patches it up with his strings temporarily. If he isn't too busy, he'll go and change, but if he is busy at the time, he leaves it like that. His clothes already have some of his strings as decoration, so no one will notice right away.
Ink
Ink goes to Error to ask him to fix it. Error is irritated because in the time Ink took to come to Error, he could have gone and gotten changed. Ink wants Error to fix it though!
Error fixes it so he stops bothering him.
Edge
Edge seethes in silent frustration. He excuses himself from what he was doing to go change and then takes the article of clothing to get tailored. It's irritating that he has to deal with this.
Red
Red looks at what's ripped. It looks like something's falling off? Well if it's not a major part of his clothing, he'll just rip it off and continue on with his day. If it is something major, he'll grumble and go change, ripping the article of clothing up in frustration and tossing it into the fire. Stupid clothes and their stupid shitty stitching.
If it's a favorite of his, he'll toss it aside to bring it to a tailor later. And then he'll forget about it until Edge reminds him.
Nightmare
Nightmare finds the rip and huffs in irritation. Assuming he has the time he'll just go change and have the clothes sent to a tailor. If he doesn't, he can use his magic to hold it together until he can change, but his mood will be significantly worsened.
Dream
Dream is startled and embarrassed, even if it didn't rip in an embarrassing place. He excuses himself to change, and if he particularly liked the article of clothing, he'll have it sent to a tailor. If not he just has it tossed out or donated, depending on where the rip is.
1. That you for answering my bug question, blues response in particular had me laughing out loud.
2. I'll follow it up with another question for the royal court.
How do they deal with getting sick? Are they the 'burrowing and dont talk to me type, powering through it, if its mild enough, downing all the remedies they can. Panicking about others getting sick?
You're very welcome! I'm happy to answer your questions! Honestly a lot of the Royal Court fall into multiple categories for your question, so I'll just write how they'd handle it!
I've actually already written about the main four getting sick, but I'll go into a little more detail here!
Nightmare
Nightmare, as we know, is highly unlikely to get sick, (He hasn't been sick since he was a child). When he does, he doesn't really want to rest. He's an immortal King, he absolutely is not sick. He tries to power through it, no matter how bad it is.
He keeps his distance from others just in case though, he's still got some sense of responsibility. Whatever is making him feel bad could have worse effects on a mortal. Killer would have to force him to rest, lest he collapse from over-exertion.
After managing to get Nightmare to rest, Killer would go to Dust to make sure Nightmare was ok. He wouldn't let anyone else near Nightmare until he feels better. Killer gets a bit panicked because Nightmare made it seem like it was impossible for him to get sick. (He'll handle it better the next time around)
Dream
Dream is like Nightmare, very unlikely to get sick. He would be worried about other people getting sick and would stay in his room. He wouldn't even want Cross get too close for too long. If Dream can get sick, then whatever he has is sure to jump to someone else!
The first time Dream got sick, Cross ended up getting sick as well because he refused to leave Dream's side until he felt better. After hundreds of years in service as his Royal Guard, he's less likely to get panicky and will handle it better.
Cross
Cross will try to power through it, and he'll be taking medication the moment he thinks he's sick. He has a job to do, he can't afford to get sick. Dream needs him!
Dream has to order Cross to take some time off and rest. He brings in a physician to diagnose him, and then takes the time to take care of Cross himself.
Killer
Killer is similar to Cross. He has a job to do, so whatever this flu is, it's not that bad. He manages to hide his symptoms from Nightmare until he literally collapses. He ends up getting worse because of it, and Nightmare scolds him the entire time he's recovering.
Nightmare comes to check on him regularly, after making sure he's been seen by Dust and given medication. He even finishes his work early to see him. He stays by his side and reads to him until he falls asleep. Killer might be an idiot for getting himself sick like this, but he's Nightmare's idiot.
Error
Error hates getting sick. He hides away in his room and snaps at anyone who comes by. Ink comes to check on him and even offers to get a doctor, and Error will just snap at him to go away. Ink has to go get Geno to come take care of Error.
Error is less snippy with Geno, but still pouts and grumbles the whole time he's sick.
Ink
Ink doesn't notice he's sick right away, and when he does he thinks he can just power through it. No biggie, right? He nearly faints and Dream has to send him to his room to get some rest. Ink pouts at needing to stay in his room till he gets better, but Error comes by with medicine for him so it's ok!
Dust
Dust is an apothecary, so if he gets sick he's the most prepared for it. He'll make his own medicine based on his symptoms and then hide away until he feels better. He's very irritable when he's sick, and gets snippy with anyone who comes by. He's not as bad as Error though.
Horror
Horror, being a butcher when he's not acting as executioner, can't do his work while sick, so he goes to Dust when he feels under the weather. Dust is an apothecary after all. He gets medicine from Dust and Dust will take time off work to take care of Horror if no one else is available.
Horror doesn't like being alone and doing nothing, he has to be doing something or at least have company, otherwise he gets antsy.
So Geno and Error weren't always immortal, huh? Why is that? How did that happen, if it's not too spoiler-y? How does one just become immortal?
Well it's not really part of the main story for Kingdomverse? so I can tell you!
Error and Geno became immortals because Error was looking for a way to save Geno's life. Geno was born with a disease that was slowly eating away at his body, and Error didn't want to lose his brother, so he sought out a cure.
He didn't find a cure, but he did find a creature willing to help him. Error no longer remembers what the creature was, as it erased most of his memories of the encounter. The creature ended up dragging both Error and Geno into the Void (Yes, the very same Void that Nightmare was cast into!)
The creature used Error as a sort of conduit for the Void's power, so that Geno and he could survive with minimal problems. Nightmare had a natural protection against the Void's energy, as most things cast into the void will be tainted and turned into something else, but Error and Geno didn't have this protection even with the creature's help.
This caused a physical change in Error, but thanks to the creature, it was also able to gift the brothers with their immortality. Geno only vaguely remembers what happened, which is why he wasn't too shocked to see Error completely different.
Essentially the Creature used Error to filter the energy from the void into something usable. Now you must be wondering "Why did the Creature help Error?"
Who knows? Maybe Error had to give something up in order to get the Creature's assistance. Maybe the Creature wanted something from the void that they could only get through the very process of turning the brothers immortal.
Maybe the Creature was just benevolent. Let's hope the Creature was just being kind to two poor children.
This process of becoming immortal is definitely not something that could happen again though.
