Soo-won x Male!Reader

“This is the last of it, your majesty.” Kye-Sook said, in his usual even timber, as he handed the last scroll to Soo-won.

“Hmmm….if I had known that running this country would have involved so much paper work, I probably never would have gone through with our plan.”

“What we’re doing is for a good cause.” The older man reminded him.

To which Soo-won sighed again and told him, “That was a joke Kye-Sook.” He finished placing his signature and the royal seal on the parchment before handing it to him. “That’s enough for today. I need to rest.”

The adviser nodded, then backed out of the room to leave his King alone for the rest of the evening. Or so he thought. “Are you just going to stay there the whole time?”

From the shadows, a young man of similar age stepped out. Not seeming surprised that Soo-won had noticed him. Not seeming to express any kind of emotion at all. “I didn’t want to talk to him.”

Soo-won sighed for a third time as he leaned back into his chair. “You know [Y/N], you really should try to get along with him. We’re all working towards the same goal. You two actually have a lot in common.”

“We’re not working towards the same goal.” [Y/N] replied. He wouldn’t even dignify the ‘you have a lot in common’ remark with a response. “The Kinshi serve the crown. Not the man wearing it.”

For nearly as long as the kingdom of Sky had been around, the Kinshi had been at the side of it. Elite assassins, born from no nation and trained for the soul purpose of keeping the crown’s interest and goals. Doing the things that fine men like Kye-Sook and the council couldn’t be seen doing.

“Is that why you stayed here? Instead of going with Yona?” Soo-won asked before he stood up and pour himself a glass of wine. “I know she was your favorite. She’s everyone’s favorite.”

[Y/N] said nothing, but turned his eyes away from the back of the blonde’s head. Yes, there was a time when he thought of Yona as more than just his future lady & Queen. When he was younger, and wanted a normal life like all of them had.

He remembered watching them in the courtyard while he was doing his training. Always in the castle, but never allowed to interact with the people in it other than their own. Shadows or ghosts that wandered the halls. It hurt to watch them have fun and play. To do simple things like hold hands with one another.

His hands had been shaped to kill people a long time ago. He couldn’t reach out to Yona, or anyone, the way he was now.

“We serve the crown. Not the family.”

Soo-won looked deep into his wine glass before he ultimately sat it down. “It’s a hard thing, isn’t it. To always do what’s best for the crown.”

There was a long pause, before Soo seemed to shake the dark thoughts off and plaster on a smile. “But, this will all be for the better someday. I’m sure no one has ever told you this, but your work is appreciated.” No. No one had ever told him that before.

“Did Kye-soon give you the new list to take care of this morning?” [Y/N] nodded.

“Good. Then I will leave it in your capable hands. But…I really am very tired and need to rest. Another big day tomorrow.”

[Y/N] all but vanished back into the shadows they had come from. Leaving Soo-won alone. They couldn’t really call themselves friends, but it was nice to have someone who understood they could never have friends. A good King was a friend to the people. And a good assassin was loyal to the moniker, not the man.

Just realizing soo-won’s side it behind on some information?

So......anyone realizing that Soo-won’s group has no idea that Hak x Yona is canon yet? like to the dragons and yoon and yona and Hak they know its basically a offical thing. They’ve known hak has liked yona for a while and even the fire tribe tae-jun knows. but I’ve realized that technically the windtribe and soo-on group has no idea that hak and yona are in love with eachother yet. so now I can’t help imagining jou-doh, kye-sook and others just having a heart attack or wondering when Hak x Yona became a thing.....honestly...I’m still wondering if his group even knew that Yona was in love with soo-won in the past. it was news to Soo-won that Yona was in love with Soo-won....

...but any thoughts about how everyone will react to Yona being romantically in love with Hak who doesn’t already know? I mean even when it was just platonic Hak was still super precious to her so it doesn’t change much over all.....

....but not even soo-won knows about Yona falling for Hak or Hak’s romantic feelings for yona right?

I don’t even think the guy who was shot by a arrow who is the medical doctor knows about yona x hak....

AkaYona Week Day 2: Tae-jun and Kyo-ga

Warning for torture. This takes place in an AU where Tae-jun helping Yona has more serious, immediate consequences for Tae-jun himself.

Tae-jun looked up at the thud of boots on stone, but didn’t jump to his feet. He had made that mistake the first time—and the second, and the third. None of the people visiting him in Kuuto’s prison had been his brother or Heuk-chi, and it had just made the guards laugh.

Kye-sook hadn’t laughed, though.

Kye-sook had looked him in the eye, and kept looking at him even as a guard had entered the room, chained Tae-jun to the bars, and began whipping him. Kye-sook had looked at him, at the blood pooling down his skin and the tears on his cheeks, and hadn’t said a word till he ordered the guard to stop. Then he had just… left. No questions about Yona-hime, nothing about Tae-jun’s loyalty, not a word to even hint at what the whipping was for.

That had been more than two meals ago.

Now, as Tae-jun listened to the boots drawing closer, he tried to figure out if he knew the footsteps. Were they smooth, like Kye-sook’s? How many seconds were there between each thud? How many had there been before?

And then the key clanged in the lock, and Tae-jun looked up into his brother’s face.

“Kyo-ga!” Tae-jun cried, getting to his feet as fast as his wounds allowed and half-lunging, half-falling to grasp at the bars. “What are you doing here?”

“Setting you free,” he said gruffly.

Unlike Kye-sook, he hadn’t looked at Tae-jun once. His eyes were on the bars, the guard, the key unlocking the cell—anything but Tae-jun.

“You’re lucky King Soo-won decided to be merciful. Aiding an enemy of Kouka like that… do you ever think, Tae-jun?”

For a moment, Tae-jun bit his tongue—and then he blurted, “I did think!” His brother’s gaze whipped to him, eyes widening, and Tae-jun told him, “I did think! For once in my life, I thought! I weighed the consequences, the benefits, the—the good that would come from my interference, and Yona-hime’s, and I found them worthy.”

Yona-hime is worthy, he thought, looking Kyo-ga in the eye. I am worthy.

“Tae-jun…” His brother looked him up and down, nose wrinkling but hand gentle when he grasped Tae-jun’s arm and helped him from the cell. “Let’s get you some proper clothes and a doctor. We can discuss your actions later.”

“We will discuss them?” Tae-jun panted, wounds flaring with every step. “Kyo-ga?”

His brother only hummed, eyes once again focused anywhere but Tae-jun, and Tae-jun breathed in a shaky breath. Yona-hime wouldn’t give up. She wouldn’t want him to give up. Not for her own benefit, but for Tae-jun.

I am worthy. I can take care of my people.

“We will discuss this,” Tae-jun declared. “At dinner.”

That should give him enough time to summon Heuk-chi and prepare. It was time they did more than just help with farming.
