An Ode to Kyra: No Ordinary "Cute" Headmate
Knowing Kyra is to want to protect her at all costs.
From an outside perspective, Kyra might seem like just another "adorable headmate".
But she is not that simple.
We often encourage people to understand why she goes far beyond that stereotype, and why communicating with her requires a little bit of pre-knowledge.
(We also wanted to make this post to refer people to if any special treatment to Kyra is mentioned, so it's explained why she needs it.)
First impressions
To start off with a short generalized introduction, Kyra was born in a secluded tribe close to (a headspace version of) Mangalore, India.
For most of her life, she's lived in the rainforest with her family and a small community of people, unaware that there was a whole world outside the borders of her forest.
We'll not be going into detail as to how she was eventually taken to the modern world, but she now lives in Fresno, California (headspace) with the other Elemental Primordials.
Kyra is an incredibly spiritually and emotionally intuitive individual. As the Primordial of Water, she has these incredibly piercing blue eyes, eyes that have visibly seen too much, ones that are always searching, observing in deep fascination and vigilance.
What makes her special is that, while she's usually naive about modern things and therefore needs a lot of guidance in life, she also carries a wisdom that's beyond anything you've ever witnessed.
Within a social setting, she won't be the first to talk, because she's still navigating this world's social rules and is also simply shy.
But when it comes to the things she is proficient in: spiritual matter, natural medicine, primitive handiwork, she may show a more knowledgeable side she also seems to take pride in.
And it's in moments like those where she truly shines. Not just in excitement, but by showing that glimpse of composure and professionalism that once used to paint her.
Before everything changed
Kyra's tribe was one of vivid culture and community, built on their strict nature-based religion. The people believed in "The Spirits", which would oversee the future and prosperity of the tribe.
When Kyra was lain in water as a baby, to be introduced to the spirits, her eyes turned from dark brown to light blue. While her being the Primordial of Water was truly the cause, the people believed she was special.
She was dubbed 'The Hands of The Spirits', which she bore with quiet dignity and a ton of spiritual responsibilities. She'd receive lessons from the elders to become a spiritual-medicine woman.
During rituals, she would often be the one performing important tasks, guided by their chief. She'd also often keep watch over the children or hold babies, as people believed the Spirits' prosperity would be bestowed through her care alone.
Obviously she was also still just a girl. One that loved to have fun with her friends, help take care of her little sister, and sometimes rebelled against her duties to test the boundaries.
Life after the forest
While, again, we won't be going through gruesome details about what Kyra's gone through, because that's not for us to share online without permission, it's safe to say: severe trauma changes a person for good.
What was once a girl of innocent fascination and proficient spiritual insight, had now turned into pure hyper-vigilance, emotional instability, and anxiety. Not to mention a LOT of grief.
Kyra has been through a lot. But her courage, perseverance, and adaptability have kept her alive when she was practically left for dead.
And her special worldview and wonder still lives on. She's always observing, pondering, questioning. Having a conversation with her never leaves you bored.
This unintentional charm allowed her to connect with her newly found family, which are the other Elemental Primordials, and the headmates of this collective.
Not only is she brave, she's also very in tune with her emotions.
She cries a lot, but in the healthiest way. If a feeling hits her, she allows herself to be a vessel to it, never restrains from letting her body go with its current.
So yes,
knowing Kyra is to want to protect her at all costs.
Not just because she's been through enough. But because a mind like hers deserves to be protected.
